Kailani Suite at Hana Kai Resort

My husband and I split our time on Maui and decided to take a leisurely drive to Hana and stay over a couple of nights at Hana Kai Maui. Best decision ever! We stayed in unit #2 Popolana, an oceanfront studio. Gorgeous views of the ocean, plenty of room, fully equipped kitchen for eating in the unit after hiking the Pipiwai Trail. Absolutely the best way to enjoy southeast Maui!

The facility and the grounds are breathtaking. The view is absolutely gorgeous of a black sand and pebble Beach so you can knock that must see site off your list just by staying at the hotel. The room was large and comfortable with a full kitchen and a very large balcony Looking over the ocean. Also a small patio in front that we did not go to. We hung out mostly on the back balcony enjoying that gorgeous view. The hotel has very individualized rooms so one is not like the other which you can see if you search for available rooms on the website. Our room was 101 and I would have to say that it was tastefully worn. Not exactly in tiptop shape, but probably not a lot different than your house. The mattress on this particular trip was not the most comfortable kind of lumpy and sinking in the middle, but that’s the only bad thing we can say about the place. I definitely would recommend staying here, and making sure to stay the night in Hana and not just try to drive here do everything and drive back to the other side of the island that’s way too much and you’re not going to enjoy it. You will read on the website that there is not air conditioning, that is true, and you don’t need it.

Spent two memorable nights here... Retro/vintage...a welcome step back in time... Recommend Unit #201.End unit on second floor with spectacular views( especially sunrise and sunset.) Convenient location,quiet and scenic manicured garden complete with waterfalls and Koi ponds... Making memories...🏖

Top floor ocean view was my dream. Ocean breeze and stocked unit 4 kitchen. Tons of cooking gear. No dishwasher. Sunrise over the black sand beach is like the movies. Highly recommend staying a night in Hana after the road to Hana and then hiking 4 mile Pipiwea trail in the morning when it’s quiet. Hana has lots of food as long as you buy it by 5 pm. Restaurants and grocery store and excellent food trucks for breakfast until 4 pm. Breeze kept us cool. Tides were like white noise. Amazing. Helpful staff, beach towels at front desk. 70s glamour vibe.

We loved our room and ocean view lanai at Hana Kai Resort. Comfy accommodations. No air-conditioning but the breeze off the bay and the ceiling fans did an amazing job at keeping the rooms cool and comfortable. Our favorite part was sitting on the lanai every evening after a busy day of sightseeing and hiking. We ordered takeout dinner each afternoon to eat on the table on the lanai facing the bay. We were in room 204, which overlooked the lower resort building but had a pretty clear, direct view of the water and beach. Staff was friendly and responsive. We had a broken end table on the lanai and our check-in host came to the room, picked it up and returned it within 20 minutes, repaired! Easy walk or drive into the town to stop at the two small stores or food trucks. Staying in Hana allowed us to fit in all the attractions in the area without rushing.

This place was so wonderful! We stayed in unit #3 and we were so happy. We loved the porch, the comfy bed, the cute kitchen. Our stay could not have been better! So glad we picked this location and if you are thinking about staying here I say YES! Also I had the office arrange a massage in my room and it was the best massage of my life!! I loved Hana and loved our condo!
