The Blacksmiths Arms

We booked at a short notice. The host was away due to his doctor’s appointment but left a note on the door and we managed to get in. Overall, we liked our stay and will book again.

Proper small pub, quite basic, room however was quite nice, lovely bed with wonderful cotton bed linen, Soft bath towels as big as Africa, bathroom quite small but adequate, breakfast quite nice,

Caribbean food was excellent, as was the full English breakfast. Room was large enough and comfortable. Landlord and staff were friendly and helpful. Restricted opening hours on Sundays - no evening dining - was a limitation for us.

Overnight in East Sussex (Counties Challenge) Really enjoyed our stay. Had a local pub feel with friendly staff. The Caribbean style food we had was very good. We really enjoyed our meal

Really love this pub & hotel- such a lovely atmosphere and heartfelt warm welcome by the hosts-graceful and easy going. The rooms are really comfy, good size, good beds and facilities. 5min taxi or car from Lewes.make sure you have dinner or lunch-wonderful Jamaican food - delicious! I have stayed a few times over the years and always look forward to coming back. Super walk up on the Downs right behind the pub.

Very nice, friendly - some might say quirky - hosts who made us feel very welcome and were great company. They helped us deal with a booking issue with no fuss. The pub itself is a little gem with a great selection of real ales, whiskies, and of course, rum. Appetising food, if you like authentic Caribbean fare. We didn’t find space for the apple crumble and rum custard this time, but we’ll be back. Room was basic but clean and quiet. We slept very well. The area is a great base for walks in the National Park, or into Lewes. We had a lovely time, thanks to Trixie and Jazz.
