First time for us for an all inclusive holiday never mind last minute and in Tunisia. We just needed some October sunshine at a reasonable price and we certainly got that. Now for the review … I should start by saying we had a fantastic week and will almost certainly return, and probably to this Hotel. But why only a four star review? For starters this is more like a good four star hotel , not five star. Customer service and attention to detail are two of the things which make a real five star hotel stand out and this is where it falls short. There is no warmth whatsoever from the reception and/or senior staff and a good number of the rest have the demeanour of employees who have been sacked but told to work out their notice in full! A little effort ( and charm ) however produces results in terms of getting most of the staff to engage ( or even smile ) but it shouldn’t have to be that way. Overall though the guys around the pool and beach bar plus most of the staff in the restaurant did a great job. As for the wee bits of detail which let the place down, I would say the room cleaning could have been better ( replacement of minibar drinks and towels was erratic and on several occasions our French windows at ground floor level were left totally unlocked despite us securing them every morning ). There are some signs of wear and tear which a five star hotel just would not tolerate but none such that they interfered with our enjoyment or comfort . The rooms themselves are big, the king size bed very comfortable, and there is plenty of cupboard space ( but are just two coat hangers really enough for two people ? ). As for the grounds they are vast and well kept. The pool and beach area is good and I particularly liked being able to either lap swim in the decent sized pool or just walk a few yards and swim in the warm sea. Now for the really good bit. The food. We expected the worst but in truth were blown away by the sheer amount , variety and quality of what was produced at breakfast , lunch ( in particular ) , and dinner. We are fussy eaters/foodies and part of our normal holiday would include research into, and dining at , good local restaurants but we were constantly amazed at what was on offer. I couldn’t list everything but stand outs were the meat and fish off the charcoal bbq and the deserts ( some photos attached ). There really is something for everyone. As for the wines I’d give the rose a solid 9/10 but the red and white maybe a 5/10 or at most 6/10. I did like the fact that no supplements were levied at any time whether for drinks or any food and so the term all inclusive really means that here. You can source something to drink and/or eat pretty much 24/7. Aside from the main restaurant, there is an a la carte restaurant which needs to be pre booked with, bizarrely, the menu choices pre selected at time of booking. We tried it once but frankly preferred the main buffet restaurant given the sheer choice and quality o
