Despite being a 5-star hotel in Sri Lanka, our initial experience was subpar. The room we were allocated seemed hastily arranged, lacking even basic amenities like towels. Despite calling reception multiple times, the room wasn't cleaned promptly, and we only received water the next day. The overall experience, excluding breakfast and the scenic outdoor location, fell short of expectations.
Throughout the night, power interruptions were frequent, causing the AC and other devices to go off briefly before backup kicked in. The hotel staff's knowledge and efficiency in managing guest requests were lacking. During dinner, we observed identical spreads placed in three different corners, offering limited variety. The cost of approximately 8,000 rupees appeared disproportionately high compared to city hotels, considering the taste and variety of the buffet.
While the hotel boasts picturesque views and a serene location, experiencing genuine hospitality may require patience and multiple requests. If you seek a peaceful location, it may suffice, but for a truly satisfying hospitality experience, it might be worth reconsidering unless you are prepared for persistent follow-ups.

It is a holiday estate with a very British style, with careful decoration details and full of South Asian characteristics. The whole park is very large, the room is also very large, and the balcony can directly see the beach. The only drawback is that the sound insulation is very poor, and the sounds in the corridor and upstairs are clearly audible... and after eating two meals in the buffet restaurant, I felt obvious stomach discomfort. I don’t know if it’s the food.

The Shangri-La Hambantota is nothing short of extraordinary, but what truly made our stay unforgettable was the incredible staff. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, every person we encountered went above and beyond to ensure our stay was magical. From an early check-in—graciously offered due to a flight mix-up—to the thoughtful surprises like a beautifully flower-decorated bed and a complimentary birthday cake, every detail was touched with care and attention. My massage at the Chi SPA, delivered by the amazing therapist Ayu, far exceeded my expectations, turning my birthday into the ultimate mid-day retreat with her expert hands and the serene surroundings. With multiple dining options, each restaurant offered not only delicious dishes but also staff who transformed every meal into an experience to savor. I wish I could remember all their names, but special thanks to Vihanga, who made my birthday dinner truly special. We’re already planning our return—Hambantota, we’ll be back!

Amazing experience at shangri la in Hambantota . No need to go to safari, safari will come to you at the resort ⬛. The staff very hospitable and polite food was amazing thank you chef’s hospitality was top class thank you Audith and Nisanka the most educated people I ever met . Ramesh thank you for your smiley face and your best masala chi . Milan made our time at the golf club romantic and joyful with his friend Mr peacock (laksarney ) . Room service was Honest and trustworthy no one touched the safe at our room we forgot to locked it. Luckshman the pool time was amazing with his soft chat and lovely smile . Thank you the spa ladies at last but not lest lots of love to charuka who made our last dinner at sera restaurant touchable he made me cry .

My Husband and I spent 4 nights/ 5 days here and absolutely loved our stay. The grounds are large with the endless trees producing over 300 coconuts per day - now that's fresh farm to table! The rooms are comfortable and toiletries smell fabulous! The two main pools are relaxing and one even has stunning seaviews. They have amenities from bocce to ping pong, bike riding to archery and so on! The restaurants all have live music and the food served is beyond expectations. There is so much attention to detail with regards to taste, presentation and delivery. The staff are all so welcoming and very accommodating. The hotel has 300+ rooms, and the staff still make you feel like family. A special thank you to Vihanga who welcomed us to breakfasts and dinners with the warmest smile and always went the extra mile to make us feel the at home. And to Shashen who helped me master the 9 holes on the golf course and beat my husband! His tips and knowledge were very much appreciated. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who truly wants to relax and have a 5 star experience!

I was here for second ND time. Over last weekend for an official event. The event was professionally managed to details, the food was out of the world, probably the best I've seen in a while, true culinary delight which was backed by excellent service by all staff at all levels. So much of activites for adults and kids to do here. Beautiful gold courses to adventure games. Will keep going back.
