We just stayed at Seewirt Zauner on Friday night and it was amazing! Check-in and check-out is contact-less so super quick and easy. The room was clean, new and big! The bathroom looked brand new. The location was perfect right in town and the view from our balcony was out of this world! We had two doors leading out to a balcony that overlooked the church and Marktplatz with a table and chairs to enjoy the view. We were treated to snow during our evening and it was magical. Would def recommend!

We spent three nights here in Early October. Nice classic Alpine hotel. The room was sizable and comfortable. The room also had a terrace with a wonderful view of the lake. The only concern and what keeps this from being a 5 star rating was a fair amount of black mold in the lower areas of the shower basin. We booked the breakfast service, which was provided at a different hotel a few steps away and was very good.

Nice hotel in an excellent location at the top of the Market square. Hallstatt is an expensive place to stay, and by Hallstatt standards the hotel was fair value. Our room 31 on the 3rd floor was clean and very pleasant with a balcony overlooking the the square and a view of the lake. The bathroom was modern (our only negative - needed a little redecoration). The hotel restaurant was excellent: a beautiful panelled room with a small balcony (book ahead). There was a wide choice of delicious-sounding dishes, which ranged beyond the Austrian standards, and the food was beautifully cooked and presented. Breakfast was not available in the hotel at the time we stayed, needed to be booked ahead and was taken in a neighbouring hotel a very short step away. Staff were absolutely lovely and could not have been more cheerful or helpful.

Highly recommended! The staff is very friendly. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful. Rooms are clean and spacious. We also had dinner at the restaurant which was very enjoyable. Room was ready at noon time. Great place to stay in Hallstatt.

This hotel is centrally located in a picturesque square in Hallstatt. It is much more affordable than comparable hotels in the area and includes breakfast as an option. The breakfast is very good and one female server in particular, went above and beyond. She would being us a tea and coffee pot to the table for extra refills. She also checked us in to the hotel, did housekeeping, waited on us inside the hotel restaurant and painted the lovely tree art in our room. She made our stay there, extra special. The balcony view was charming as well. We absolutely loved our stay here.

Pasta and shrimps meal tasted of knor vegetable stock cubes, once sever had brought me some garlic paste it improved the taste. The steak was good but the potatoes were cold. The apple strudel was microwaved and really not good, we sent it back. Such a shame. On a positive the servers were very friendly and hard working. As a personal experience we were very disappointed. To be fair we were not charged for the strudel and the chef did come out to find out the problem.

This was a game of two halves! Day one; A warm welcome, a cosy room, a lovely balcony with a view over the market square. A clean and well proportioned room. The wonderful Ukrainian lady serving at dinner and then breakfast was so friendly and accommodating and she went out of her way to produce a wonderful breakfast. ‘Where do want us to sit?’ ‘Wherever you like, wherever suits you.’ I asked for some boiling water for our own chai teabags ( first opportunity we had to actually have our favourite type of tea on our holiday) this was delivered in a flask with a cheery smile. There was bacon, eggs, lovely bread as well as a continental spread. The evening meal was excellent and the manager in the restaurant gave us free welcome drinks and he could not have been more friendly or caring about our comfort and enjoyment. The chef is superb, top quality. It was just magical. Hallstatt is magical, a truly exceptional place and especially in early season with sunshine and no crowds. The second day? So different. It dawns on you that there is simply nothing extra in your room at all, actually there is just one sachet of shampoo and a bar of soap! No bottled water, no kettle, no access to refreshments in room or anywhere else in the hotel. The towels are tiny, there is just one each. Down to breakfast and sadly, no Ukrainian lady. We headed to the same comfy seats as the day before. ‘Please sit here, it is better for me.’ We were told quite brusquely by the Austrian lady on breakfast duty. I lifted the lid of the heated food warmer to find that it was empty. ‘It’s no hot food today, I did cake.’ We were told. There was a plate of sliced up pieces of cake on offer instead. I asked for a flask of hot water, as per the day before, and she told me she knew what we wanted, she’d been told about us. She brought a pot of pre-made black tea telling me ‘I know what you want, this tea is better than yours!’ It’s the little things isn’t it? The person who goes the extra mile versus the person who imagines they’ll never see you in their hotel again. Day one good, day two, not so good. Top tip. Pack a travel kettle or at least make sure you have a bottle of water/OJ on you. It might be worth stating that, for the price you’re paying you expect a full service breakfast too.

Stayed on a Wednesday evening in mid-August. Good = excellent location in heart of Hallstatt just (literally) a couple of steps from the town square; beautiful balcony views; waterfall flowing down mountain above hotel and channelling down under hotel so peaceful water flow sounds all night; Hallstatt is incredibly beautiful, at least when not packed w/ visitors mid-day; room was clean and nice, walk-in shower surprisingly large; restaurant for dinner was very good, 'grandmother's special' (blood sausage w/ potatoes & sauerkraut) was one of better meals I had in Austria; breakfast was decent, not spectacular but passable; staff was all relatively friendly. Bad = nothing really bad per se, but just note that hotel shuttle to/from parking is not overly reliable. You can skip shuttle and walk - about a 10-15 minute (brisk) walk between parking and hotel, relatively flat, but over cobblestones so if have rolling suitcases expect to be calling nonstop attention to yourself. Shuttle does exist, but not timely. Either already full or 15-20 minutes behind schedule whenever we attempted to use it. We did use it once (after waiting for a while and starting to walk on our own when it finally showed up) and was fine, but don't count on it if you're on a tight schedule. Bottom line = the hotel was great, the food was great, we loved it, definitely recommend, just don't rely on the shuttle.
