The Westin Nova Scotian

Wonderful heritage hotel with all the touches of a grand Canadian property. Lobby restaurant was excellent, particularly the breakfast buffet.

Good service- dated rooms We just had one night. Staff were very pleasant and helpful and we did not really spend much time in hotel - it probably just felt dated in the rooms

The staffs are all very nice... friendly and easy to talk too. and they know its out anniversary 21 years and they give us surprise food dessert ... much appreciated... will stay here again...

The Westin is fantastically conveniently located for the Via Rail station (literally connected by a walkway) and (I'm guessing because I was on a ship) for the cruise terminal across the road. It's also less than a minute from a huge supermarket, and a short scenic walk from downtown Halifax and the boardwalk. But the hotel trades on its location - the price for our room was breathtakingly expensive, and the room itself was average at best. The beds particularly were terrible - old, saggy and really uncomfortable. On the plus side, the staff were lovely and the breakfast is decent (though not sensational). But overall, a tired hotel designed for maximum profit whilst only delivering moderate satisfaction.

Not too impressed with this hotel. The bathrooms are small and outdated. Ankle deep water when taking a shower is not what we paid for...
