What a perfect oasis of calm set in the most jaw dropping grounds. The rooms are flawless. The service The best I've ever encountered. I couldn't believe how fabulous it all was. Nothing negative to say. Well done to all involved. Wedding supervisor had a perfect handle on a couple of very awkward guest. Should join the diplomatic service.

The Afternoon Tea is lovely. The reception staff and waitress were helpful, friendly and efficient. There is a good choice of teas and plenty of it. The atmosphere was quiet and the open fire made it cosy. The overall experience was great and the history of the hall is presented well.

We booked two 'House Double' rooms, one for two people, the other for single occupancy. Both were comfortable, with reasonable sized bathrooms and good showers. The skylight windows meant we couldn't see very much from them, but it was good to be able to open them, and the built-in blinds kept the hot afternoon sun out. The rooms were certainly very quiet overnight, apart from the lovely sound of a tawny owl calling. All of the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, but we'd like to say a special thank you to Anthony, whose service was particularly impressive. We had dinner from the main a la carte menu on Friday night and ate earlier in the evening/late afternoon on Saturday, from the Garden menu, which was a lighter option. All of the food was tasty, very good quality and nicely presented. Anthony even remembered which bottle of wine we had on Friday when we asked for the same again on Saturday. The breakfast choices were also very good. The building itself is fascinating, with lots of nooks and crannies to discover. The garden is beautiful. It is, of course, an old building, but it would have been nice to have a mini fridge in the room and a couple of USB charging points, which can be installed quite cheaply. Also, the two small bottles of water (one still, one sparkling) which were in our room on arrival were not replenished on the second day. Overall, though, a fabulous stay and we would more than happily return.

Beautiful old house converted into a hotel in the 1950's with some star visitors over the last 60 years. Set in attractive Gardens. Our room was very tired, especially the bathroom which had everything but in dire need of a refresh/update when you consider cost of a night £160. A little bit like visiting an old eccentric Aunty who bought quality furnishings and had the bathroom updated 30 years ago, and never talks about the cost of what's on offer. 8 course Taster meal lived upto its name, some examples of the chefs skill, but only a taste! I declined the cheeseboard offered as an 'extra', but envied the guests on the next table who had a more substantial meal.

Stayed here for two days recently. The Staff are particularly good in general but Hayley was simply exceptional in sharing her knowledge and love of the property.Food was excellent and the garden is a pure delight

Lovely hotel. Amazing food ( menu really doesn't do it justice). Service 5/5. Staff so friendly and helpful. It was our wedding anniversary and they made it really special. We were given a free glass of champagne and petit fours. Would recommend this hotel
