Unexpectedly found this beautiful pub on a run out for an hour or so. Along a winding road we saw the car park was full thinking it might be ‘pre-bookings only’ but we found a space in the over flow carpark. Walking across we could hear water running in the background ‘just lovely’. Busy inside with diners but still greeted by busy staff as we walked through including bar staff who spoke and made eye contact while we waited obviously had ‘great training’. We found a free table outside and enjoyed a lovely couple of hours entertainment from a variety cal duo and btw ‘Thankyou for playing our request ’ ~ our compliments to the owners, lovely staff without exception :)

Excellent food and service. We visited for Sunday dinner, roast beef was the tastiest and best cooked piece of beef I have had in a long time and all accompanying vegetables were perfect. For dessert we had sticky toffee pudding and the pineapple, both delicious. Really enjoyed our meal

Nice place if you want to drink a £14 glass of wine next to a stinking septic tank. I have reported the smell of sewage to the management before - no change

I went for lunch with two friends, we sat outside in the excellent covered area. Two fish and chips and one stone baked pizza. All rather disappointing, the fish was heavily battered with more very crunchy batter than fish and nowhere near as good as any decent fish shop, at £22 I'm afraid that's adding insult to injury. the pizza crust was so hard it proved a challenge even though my friend has all his own teeth. The free of charge added extra was the constant smell of raw sewerage that hangs in the air, maybe some people like it but it's not to my taste, Overall, disappointing, I have popped in for a drink some summer evenings and experienced the delicate aroma of sewage so nothing new there then, but when eating I'm afraid it's not for me.

I was super excited to try something on their Vegan menu, which I understood was available daily, but that didn't turn out to be the case, unfortunately. I ended up basically getting fish and chips, which were great but not what I was hoping for. If you aren't a meat eater, that is your only option if you are pescatarian. The ambience is great and the grounds are gorgeous. The service was not so great. I was solo and felt very ignored. I had no idea who my server actually was because the people who took my order, delivered my food, asked if i wanted dessert, and who I asked for my check (after nearly 20 mins of trying to get someone's attention as they walked by 20 times) were 4 different women. I felt very out of place, unfortunately. I'll try again next time I'm in Halifax and hopefully with more than just myself it will be a more enjoyable experience. And I'll ask about the vegan menu this time, prior to making the reservation.

We arrived here on a busy, sunny Sunday and the place was busy and bustling. The staff were great and kept everything running smoothly. We initially only popped in for a quick pint after a walk but couldn’t resist the look and the smell of the pizzas. The sourdough bases tasted great and the topping was delicious.

We have visited this restaurant on many occasions. The setting is beautiful, the building is beautiful but unfortunately the level of service in terms of food is so inconsistent. We dined today for Sunday lunch and the food was absolutely average. Given the cost this is very disappointing. The Sunday roast beef was tasteless, the roast potatoes were rubbish - just soft no crunch! I chose the Lemon Blueberry dessert. It was a sponge with loads of compote thrown over it and a small boule of ice cream on top - not nice at all. This restaurant portrays itself as a top venue but they need to address the inconsistency in their food.

Lunch at Shibden Mill Inn was outstanding. We sat outside in the garden in the sunshine, the food was amazing and the staff were attentive and professional as always. Love this place x
