This a complaint against the operators of Port City Apartments in Haifa. My wife and I are Australians and we made a direct booking with Port City apartment management (Itamar) We checked in on the 31st July 2022 until 6th August 2022. The fees included 100NIS cleaning fees. This is a fraud as no cleaning was evident. The location of the apartments was fine. Set in an area where there are eating places eg Café and other shops and a supermarket. The apartment was described as providing a range of self serving facilities etc, air conditioned. The first thing we noticed was the yellow stained pillow case on one pillow. Next, the fridge freezer compartment was full of built up ice which suggested that the freezer had never been defrosted. The freezer could not be closed (see picture attached). We noticed that the toilet seat was loose and moving while seated. We reported to management (located at 84 Derech Yaffo st) and someone came with some screws etc and we believed that was fixed. The man they sent in to look at it was not a plumber. He was a handy man. The seat was still moving after he had left and quite in fact it could be lifted by hand. The next day Friday (5th August) we found the fridge had stopped working because the thermostat had failed. We reported it to management and the same handyman came to look at the fridge. He knew the fridge could not function due to the failed thermostat. He went out, got 2 bags of ice and stuck them in the fridge and went away. On the same evening, we went out but when we returned late evening, we found the floor was entirely full of water from the melting ice in the fridge. We quickly soaked up the water with bath towels. My wife called the management number and there was no answer because it was Friday evening Sabbath day. We were so angry with this experience. We asked for a full refund of our money. They instead offered us 15 discount for future booking. We rejected this offer and told them we had no desire to book again at their apartments. The crockery supplied was of sub standard with cracks and breaks on the bowls. There were uneven pairs of drinking mugs. The pots provided were unclean. The bathroom had no soap stand. Anyone showering will need to drop the soap on the floor and pick it up. The entire experience was horrible .We asked the management for a full refund and failure to do so will result in us providing a report to the Israel Government authorities. They decided to ignore this caution. Hence our letter fo complaint and for some action to be taken. We have been visiting Israel for many years visiting our relatives in Haifa and have often booked into apartments but never had such a problem. This management of Port City apartments promise many things to entice customers but they are a fraud and never deliver. They collect 100NIS for cleaning but the cleaners do not do the cleaning adequately. The management of Port City need to be contacted and fined for their lack of attention
