Bastion Hotel Schiphol Hoofddorp

This is without doubt the worst-run hotel that I have ever stayed in. And it's not even cheap, it's an expensive hotel being near the airport. On arrival, (at midnight) we (4 persons in 2 separate rooms) all found that there were no towels or bathroom linen in the rooms. We tried to ring the front desk but there was no reply. We then headed back down to reception to try to find someone. I was given 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels. No bath mat, face washer or other basics. The lifts are old and creaky and the Level ”2” light in the LHS lift was permanently ”on”. The airconditioning in our room made a continuous high-pitched crackly noise that it was impossible to sleep with. The bed linen was mis-matched (!?), there was no milk in the fridge, there was an old bottle-cap on the floor of the room when we walked in. This hotel is clearly old, tired, needs maintenance and is very poorly run. I am sorry that we had to stay here and we will never visit again. No-one that I talk to will, either. 0/5

With a 7 am flight, I booked the Moxy for a night. I had stayed at other Moxy properties so I knew what to expect. The shuttle from the airport was a bit confusing. You have to look for the NH hotel shuttle which also does Moxy. I got lucky as it arrived when I got there. Ordering drinks and food is an ordeal. You have order and they punch everything in and sign. It took a long time t process each order. The food took almost 45 min. I wanted another glass of wine but didn’t want to wait in line and pay / sign for it each time. So took the food to the room and ate there. In the morning, the shuttle does not run till 5:45 am, so I tried and Uber. No luck. A nice guest offered to give me a ride in the can she ordered. That was very kind. When we got to the airport, the driver said that I also have to pay as they do it by number of room and that is the rule / policy of the hotel. That didn’t sound right so I refused to pay told the driver to have the hotel contact me resolve and headed for my flight. Not the best experience leaving the hotel. The 3 star rating is because of the food / Bev process and the set up “arrangement” for taxi.

The hotel was a little far out, away from food establishments and other shops, but my stay there was bliss of course. I managed to order takeaway and they have a mini 24/7 market near reception so I got my necessary goodies. You have to pay for the airport shuttle which is a little bizarre but it was a comfortable ride. It is Marriott, can’t go wrong with this one.

Very Pleasant Stay - No Real Complaints I stayed here for three nights in April 2023 and we had no issues - We stayed here because of the difficulties of finding a place to stay in Amsterdam and found this a pleasant, quiet alternative, the hotel is a bit out of the way in the sleepy town of Hoofddorp but is a mere 5 min walk from the station which is a 4 min train journey to Schipol Airport and 25 min or so train journey to Amsterdam-Centraal. We never had any issues using the train with them every 10 mins or so and running until early hours of the morning we had a good experience, the fares are cheap approx €6 to Amsterdam and €3 to the airport, although you can use contactless payments tio pay, The hotel itself is very modern, with the ability to cast to the TV in the room, the bathroom was nice and the noise from the airport was kept to a minimim by the thick windows. The beds were comfortable and the staff were friendly, the ability to check on on a machine was also nice as we were able to skip the queues and check right in. Would stay here again and reccomennd to anyone wanting to go to Amsterdam but can't find anywhere suitable in the centre!

Don’t believe the negative reviews, This hotel was easy to find and in a lovely quiet village, was very clean. We landed well after the check in time but as long as you let them know there was no problem. Staff Very friendly staff and professional it’s only a 15mins walk to main bus route into centre Amsterdam which is 15mins bus ride. Very handy Lidl opposite hotel. I would recommend staying here as it’s very cheap/clean/safe and very easy access to town. We had no problems

Great interior Very poor and bad communication regarding to how they deal with complaints. Amateurish room service service and digital set up Waited two hours on a night pizza that did not arrived because it seems they had no “chef” available that could heat up the night snack? Breakfast room service also taken care of in a way like this is being an assignment of grade 1 of the hospitality school.
