Model Towne Inn

We only stayed here one night and chose this hotel as it is the closest lodging to the MQT airport (only 10 minutes away). The front desk agent we interacted with was very friendly. The room itself was clean, but we did find a beetle crawling around. The bed itself was comfortable and the shower was very good. The theme of the room was VERY patriotic. We didn't get to try the breakfast due to the early departure of our flight. Really, the only negative I could say is that I think the cost was a bit much for the hotel, but we'd probably stay here again before an early morning flight from MQT.

The most accommodating hotel I have ever stayed at. Both of the check-in ladies went out of their way to make our two nights as comfortable as possible. The ‘apartment’ was spacious, clean and had everything I could have possibly needed. Would I stay there again? You betcha!

We were looking for a place near Munising,Mi but a bit off the beaten track the night before we were to do a ferry trip and bus tour on Grand Island in Munising, MI and found this quaint little place in Gwinn, Mi about 45 minutes from Munising. In talking to the owners the place is completely remodeled, with a nice little continental breakfast. The beds were comfortable, the place is very clean. For you snowmobile-rs or all terrain vehicle users, this hotel has trails to the east, west, north and south. We ran into a noisy a/c unit which was promptly handled with a fan, until it could get fixed. I would recommend this place to anyone and the owners Kevin and Sherri were always nearby. This is a cute, family owned and operated hotel in Gwinn, MI. Kelly and Andy, the owners, do a great job with managing this hotel. All new carpeting, painting and decor make this hotel a great place to stay when I travel to the Upper Peninsula. They have a really nice continental breakfast every morning - lots of goodies, coffee and juices. The towels have to be the softest I have ever experienced in a hotel - not like most where they are scratchy. The hotel also runs a taxi service to local airports. They are pet friendly and have a nice area for the dogs to run in and the pet deposit is reasonable. All in all a really nice place to stay in Gwinn!

I stayed here on my wedding night the other day and this was the worst experience ive ever had at a hotel... We made a small mess on the patio that I offered multiple times to clean up and they told me everything was fine and then all of a sudden it wasnt and then it was fine again. We got gravy from the wedding food on a table outside and the pavement that I offered to come back and clean with a pressure washer, but they assured me it was fine. And then continued to complain about it. Then they lied to us and said the room next to us broke the heat register off the wall (we knew the people.) So they said they had to charge them $200 dollars for it. Instead they attempted to charge my card $250 that declined then when the people called the hotel about it, the mangaer of the hotel lied to them again and said the reason that they charged them $250 is becausw we were throwing gravy around on camera?!?! I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THAT VIDEO!!! IF i had half the nerve id call the cops. Mark my words. Stay far way from this place. Who treats someone like that on their wedding night?

Another nice experience at the Model Towne Inn. They have updated much of the furnishings and bedding. They also are now open all year round and take their own reservations - so, if you want their best room rates, book directly with them. They offer a continental breakfast every morning - Plenty of fresh pastries, coffee, cereal, yogurt and other goodies! There are also several small family owned restaurants nearby that offer good food at reasonable prices. The Model Towne does allow pets, but you need to make sure you reserve a pet room ahead of time - they only allow pets in certain rooms. They also have a large patio with fire pits and have firewood available. Overall, a nice place to stay in the Gwinn/Sawyer area.
