The two small buildings at the entrance are also hotel rooms. Although there is no air conditioning, there is basically no need for air conditioning here. We stayed in mid-September and needed to turn on the electric heater to sleep. . The temperature was just right during the day and it was so comfortable. Picture 1 shows a large room, Picture 2 shows a large room downstairs and a small room upstairs. Picture 3 shows the main building of the hotel from a distance, the sentinel building at the door of where I live. 🫣

PERFECT IN EVERYWAY staff were incredible Ian especially. As a previous hotelier this hotel was exceptional. Stayed in a cottage room which was stunning. Comfortable bed large scotch before bed what more can you ask for!! Roaring fire and beautiful features.

We came for a two night stay so my partner could play at Muirfield with a golfing pal. This place is wonderful. The service is fantastic. The room is luxurious and immaculate. The food is very high quality (it is a Michel Roux restaurant) The family and golfing history of the place is so interesting . Rory McIlroy stayed there in 2013! The gardens were lovely , so well kept. The staff were without exception friendly and interested and engaged with us effortlessly! Special mention to Abi from India vis Dubai , and another guy who was Spanish and from Alicante . Also two lovely Aussie girls who were waitresses. And the general manager was always at hand. It’s such a peaceful location too. We loved it.

I genuinely don’t know where to begin as everything was just perfect. The staff were amazing, the room was fabulous and the food was on a different level. If you are looking for a peaceful break away from it all in a gorgeous country house hotel then this is the place to come. It’s also only a few minutes from Gullane and a short drive to North Berwick if you feel like venturing out to explore. We can’t wait to return, thank you.

Classic Celebration. Had not been for a few years and determined to celebrate my birthday. They responded promptly to emails of enquiry regarding Celiac and a Dairy Intolerant menu adjustment. On arrival the chef had prepared a list of what could be served and without compromise. The duty manager, Abhi, Chef Roberto and our attentive young waiter made us feel so welcome and certainly made our Day. The chocolate and orange cake which all diets could enjoy was a delight. Having read other comments about decor, Greywalls is a traditional home from home and never intended to provide banal business environs.

We stayed at Greywalls as we were attending the Scottish Open. The location was superb, as the course was in walking distance. The hotel itself is clean, but dated. For a five star hotel, we were shocked that there was no tea or coffee making facilities in the room. This seems like a very basic requirement. We were directed by the staff that a tray could be provided on request, what arrived was a very basic selection with no biscuits etc. Comparing this to the Fingal and Prestonfield House (also five star) this was quite poor as both other properties provided home made biscuits/shortbread to go along with the tea and coffee. For the price point, I'd expect a lot more than having to ask for a kettle. Breakfast was good, staff very friendly but we were disappointed that the tattie scone came dry as it is quite common practice on a scottish fry that tattie scones are served crisp and pan fried. The scones were warm but otherwise dry - a bit odd when everything was of a good standard. Overall, a good stay but underwhelming for the price point.

This is a beautiful old hotel adjacent to Muirfield Golf Course. The interior is very old school and traditional with lots of historic touches including a library, grand piano and lots of pictures of famous visitors to the hotel down the years. The gardens are manicured and lovely and there is a croquet lawn at the front. Our bedroom was well sized and followed the same style. The shower was very good and the bathroom large. There was a TV and side table with books. The bed was comfortable. Tea and coffee was available on request. Breakfast was excellent - a modest buffet selection and then hot food menu, including porridge, eggs and full Scottish breakfasts. Prices were expensive. Staff were very good.

Such a lovely place to stay! Comfortable and delightful staff. Our room 5 had wonderful views over the golf course. The gardens are gorgeous and a delight to walk around. Dinner was mostly superb - especially the pork. The ravioli was a bit disappointing and I would not recommend it, but my husband loved his terrine. Kipper for breakfast was delicious, probably better than full Scottish which my husband had. I would love to return and stay for longer.
