An immaculate hotel with a delicious breakfast buffet located within walking distance of the city. Across the road (through the underpass) is a lovely dirt-path park for birding, and at the end you can access the bridge to town. Behind the hotel is access to hiking trails to take you up to the ridge and pagoda. The hotel itself had a kettle, the standard toothbrush-comb-slippers-towel amenities, and a friendly supportive staff (though with minimal English). There’s parking out front. For those on foot, the hotel will pick up/drop off at the train station. There is a restaurant and a convenience store a couple of doors down from the hotel. Gulang is a fabulous destination for seeing the Great Wall; we hired a driver for the day and did a couple hours of hiking along the wall (next to corn fields!) and then visited the grottoes. Not touristy at all — one of my favorite spots on the trip!

The room was not very clean, the sheets were not changed and there were hairs on the bed. There was nothing to buy in the room, but they still charged a 100 yuan deposit. It was so strange! It didn't feel good.

The bedding is clean and comfortable, and the front desk is patient. Two breakfasts were given as a gift, which was unexpected.
The hotel is located next to the highway, a little far from the center of Gulang. It feels like it is designed to facilitate people traveling on the national highway. There is a railway behind the hotel, mostly freight trains, which is quite busy. Fortunately, the noise is very small after closing the window, which will not affect the rest.

The room is OK, but I can't tell the difference between the comfortable king-size bed and the deluxe king-size bed. The bed edge makes a little noise when getting out of bed.

This hotel is so heartwarming. The boss is very enthusiastic and recommended local characteristics. The room is warm and comfortable, which is the style we like.
