We arrived in the dark and didn't have a taxi driver who knew the area. The route via Google Maps repeatedly ended at barriers and gates, and the hotel was quite a distance away, several hundred meters, so that you couldn't drive up if you weren't familiar with the area. Calling reception didn't really help either, as it was obviously staffed by trainees who had no knowledge of English and couldn't explain to the taxi driver how to drive. After more than an hour of circling around and asking for help from another taxi driver, we finally reached our destination. The hotel is beautifully located in the middle of the botanical gardens, but of course that was a big problem for us at night. It's obviously booked by tour groups, who of course have a Chinese-speaking tour guide. Everyone was very keen to help us and to give us a last meal at 8:30 p.m. because the facility there was also closing. So, arriving during daylight is very helpful, and you can't leave it late... But the location in the middle of the city and surrounded by greenery is, of course, a premium. At breakfast, I found someone who spoke very good English and was able to help us.
