Guilford Bed and Breakfast

We stayed 4 nights in this charming B & B owned and operated by innkeepers Lisa and John. The home has 4 guest rooms on the second floor. Our room was tastefully furnished with 2 queen beds and 2 high wing-back chairs. The private bath with shower stall is small but functional. Their excellent breakfast included freshly prepared eggs, bacon, waffles, and fruit. During our stay we had the pleasure of attending a holiday dinner party for 50 guests. Hosts John and Lisa made it look easy and did a wonderful job preparing for and overseeing the festivities. Of note, The Guilford is licensed to serve and cater adult beverages and is open to the public for afternoon drinks and snacks. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would definitely stay here again.

We can't speak well enough of our stay at the Guilford Bed and Breakfast! We arrived on a day that had wind gusts up to 40mph! We were graciously greeted by innkeeper John and he informed us that the electricity was out! He said he would make our stay as comfortable as possible or refund our money. We were actually looking forward to a possible candlelight and fireside evening adventure and dropped off our things and were heading to the parking lot to explore the area. John ran out to us as we got to our car and said the power was back on! Our room and the entire property was wonderful. So comfortable and John was so nice and friendly. After exploring and having dinner we arrived back to sit by a wonderful fire in the library with a glass of wine surrounded with very old books and so much charm. We stayed in the Cummings room which was beautifully appointed and so cozy. We woke to a great breakfast served by John. We are sorry we did not get to meet Lisa and we will definitely be returning to make sure we get our "guaranteed" Moose sighting. Thank you John for an amazing stay! Highly recommended! This bed & breakfast was a great place to stay in this area of Maine. The house is decorated beautifully, the Cummings Room and attached bathroom was very spacious and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Since the room was located at the front of the house, there was some traffic noise during the night. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and gave us a good start for our 9-hour drive ahead. Lisa and John were wonderful hosts. They were very welcoming and attentive, and we loved visiting with Peanut (their dachshund). We would have enjoyed sitting on the front porch or in the beautiful library if we had had more time.

Beautiful home beautifully decorated and maintained. Wonderful hosts. Great gourmet breakfast. Other than a little road noise the location is great if you are traveling through the wilds of Maine. The house is decorated with art worth seeing that is historical to the property as well as modern works John brought from Atlanta.

My wife and I stayed at the Guilford B & B in July when we went to pick up our new Maine Coon kitten nearby. It turns out we were some of the first guests of the new owners, who moved up from Georgia with their son to take over. They were kind and interesting conversationalists who made us feel welcomed. While new to the area, they already had helpful local recommendations. My only regret is that we didn't see a moose, which we heard are somewhat common in the area. I loved John's unique chess sets displayed in the living and dining rooms. We ate a yummy homemade quiche for breakfast on the porch with breeze blowing through the screens. The house is a southern mansion feel with wide open downstairs spaces and an interesting array of books available to read/borrow in the library.

We just returned from Guilford Maine after visiting friends in the area. We booked two nights at this bed & breakfast and we’re so glad we did. The hosts couldn’t have been nicer and served outstanding breakfasts. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. When we come back to this area we will definitely book another stay here.
