The hotel is sitting in the middle of ShaMian Island, an island full of historical culture of British Architecture. The hotel receptionists that hosted us on 12-13 Dec 2024 were all superbly friendly and helpful! I was with my Muslim Colleagues and we had difficulties finding Muslim food but the front desk gentleman recommend us a restaurant which turn out to be a great one!
On the next day, I was having problem ordering a taxi transport to Baiyun Airport and the hotel receptionist girl helped to arranged and we were on time to airport!
As for the hotel, the ambience made me indulged in the beauty of olden days. The bed was good quality and I had a full night rest. Water temperature are easy to control and hence overally, a very pleasant stay.
If I return to Guangzhou in the future, I will surely be back at Victory Hotel ❤️

This hotel has a fair price for the room it offers. Without any great luxuries, it has an excellent location on the charming island of Shamian. The standard room has good dimensions, a good mattress, pillows, large windows with views, good light, the bare essentials, water, coffee and tea, and you should stay on a high floor because of the noise from the elevated road in front of the hotel, built at first floor level. Breakfast is frugal, but has the basics. There's a Starbuck's next door in a beautiful building that complements the western breakfast. The staff are very polite, unspeakably friendly, and endeavour to make everything run smoothly and respond to any needs that arise. It always goes well, a rest in pleasant and restful surroundings.

Well located for exploring the areas on Shamian Island and heading further into Guangzhou. The hotel building has a lot of character but rooms are maybe starting to show some signs of time.

This hotel is very old! Everything is very old. Definitely it’s a historical landmark hotel. Not quite a place that I would like to stayed for next time! But one thing that is interesting is the laundry room which is updated! Front desk staff are not quite friendly.

A lovely hotel in a prime location. It’s close to a historical site and train stations. The hotel is well decorated and affordable for its standard. The staff are super friendly and attentive.

Good location. The breakfast got very much Chinese. In my room 522 there was a leaking wall between the shower and the bed, so the carpeting was always wet - that has to be fixed.

The room was a little small but the hotel is at shamian, a great place to stay for holidays in Guangzhou. Excellent service and very clean room.

A historic hotel in a strategic location in the middle of the famous Shamian Island. The island itself serves as a tranquil reminder of the colonial European period, with quiet pedestrian avenues flanked by lush vegetation and lined by historical buildings. The reception area is old-fashioned and memorable, while the majority of other areas and rooms are a blend of old-fashioned and modern. The rooms are on the spacious side and furniture inside the rooms is made of solid and expensive material. Our bed was comfy and the room was very clean. The view from the room was across the narrow channel toward busy city part of Guangzhou, but nothing special. The breakfast was adequate offering a mix of European and Chinese cuisine. There are several famous restaurants scattered around Shamian Island in the vicinity of the hotel, a couple of banks, and the landmark seafood and medicine markets a short walk away. Considering the level of service and comfort, we found the hotel to be very good value.
