The Villa Ganz was a super place to stay during our few days in Guadalajara. Walking in to the nearly 100 year old, renovated building gave a warm sense of belonging. The art downstairs and the stained glass as you go up the stairs is lovely. A hammock, a piano, a sweet hotel cat… I was in a little spot of heaven. I could have stayed in the hammock reading my book in the glow of the full length windows and watched the birds for hours. The bedroom’s brick barrel ceiling was cool. There is outdoor seating both covered and uncovered. Beautifully renovated. I highly recommend the chilaquiles for breakfast, the best ever, I had mine with egg and chicken. In fact, I had that dish each of the three mornings I was there for breakfast. Fabulous and kudos to the cook. The bar was well stocked and Carlos, also one of the concierges, made us fabulous drinks and he is an interesting guy to chat with. While I am on about the staff, Ivan was very helpful when making my reservation in my limited español but he kindly and patiently encouraged me to speak español. Armando was another of the concierges and was most helpful, cheerful and even encouraged me to play the piano which I have missed while being away from my home and piano for months now, so that was super special for me. I am sure I haven’t mentioned all the staff who went above and beyond, showing excellent customer service skills. All of them did. Recommendations for restaurants. Information about taxis were quite helpful. Also there was parking for our car which was ensuring of a peaceful mind. Lots of restaurants near by whether you walk or take a short taxi ride. The area was fun and safe for walking. I highly recommend Villa Ganz and do hope to return again one day.
