Hardly any visitor to Gstaad can probably escape the fascination that emanates from the symbol of Gstaad: the Hotel Palace - standing in a solitary splendour high above the village. Many will have secretly wished to live “up there” one day. For 25 years we have the privilege of being the happy owners of an apartment in the Résidence, an annex to the Hotel Palace. After spending many vacation days in this dream area, it’s high time to record our impressions in a written review. The “Palace” towers over Gstaad like a fortress from bygone times. As soon as you enter this place of harmony and peace you leave your daily worries behind and enjoy the perfect location with a fantastic view of the mountains as well as the unique interior and exterior architecture of the building. Everything in this house is perfectly designed with great care, the excellent standard continues in all areas - you feel like you have been transported to another world that ensures relaxation, enjoyment and friendliness. A sensational experience in the Swiss Alps in a great ambience with lots of charm and hospitality at the highest level! We love old hotels, their warmth, their history and their employees, who pamper their guests with dedication, attention and great expertise. Where else can you find that? The old Swiss hotel industry with its beautiful, palatial buildings and attentive service has unfortunately become a dying breed. Short-lived design and a sheer profit motive are increasingly replacing them and often leave dissatisfied guests behind. You can't relax and unwind in these houses anymore! Although the dilemma is well known, many hotel managers still chase after the supposed bargain and ignore true quality. Andrea Scherz, the owner of this gem in the 3rd generation, has managed to achieve the certainly not easy balancing act between awareness of tradition and future-oriented investment. It's really demanding to preserve what is proven and to enter new and unconventional territory courageously. Andrea Scherz has mastered this challenge in an exemplary manner. Culinary Director Franz Faeh, who leads the 50-person kitchen brigade with care and calm, deserves a special mention. He ensures that every guest finds what he likes on his plate at any time and wherever; even unusual special requests are fulfilled. His cuisine, which can be described as classic, is predominantly French-inspired, with a digestible, light "Asian touch" - the result of his many years of stay in various Asian countries. When in summer you sit down for dinner on the Palace's showpiece, the fantastic sun terrace, your gaze almost automatically wanders from the menu to the magical mountain backdrop - a feast for both the palate and the eyes. Our conclusion is addressed to all readers of our review: If you would like to experience the upscale hotel industry in an alpine area, stay at the Hotel Palace in Gstaad and you will be looked after with great attention, enjoying the fact that you don't
