Free on-site parking. Welcome from pleasant and efficient staff who spoke English. Large, well-fitted room. Air-con would have been useful but not really a problem. Nice terrace and restaurant. Excellent choice of food including Bavarian suggestions. Great place to stop-over. Good value.

I'm not sure what has happened to this hotel - maybe it is the dreaded Covid effect! We have used this hotel for several years on our way to and from Austria and have always been delighted. However, our last overnight stay in late August/September was very poor. The room (same room that we have used for many years) was like a sauna and, with underfloor heating, was impossible to cool down. We slept with both balcony doors wide open all night! The minibar was unplugged from the wall, so everything inside was warm. The drain on the shower was blocked and flooded the floor but had cleared by the morning and the shower head had seen better days. Our restaurant reservation, which was confirmed when we checked in, was not passed on to the restaurant so we had to wait, I'm not sure why, whilst the restaurant checked with reception, when the restaurant was nearly empty! However, I must say that the quality of the food for dinner and breakfast the following morning were excellent. What a pity that this hotel is letting itself down badly with poor customer service and poor maintenance. I wrote at length to the hotel on our return but have heard nothing - not even an acknowledgment of my email. Let's hope this was a temporary blip and that they will make some effort to bring it back up to its former, excellent self.

The hotel is located on the main road to Bad Tölz. The hotel is very tastefully decorated and everything is very clean and tidy. The room is very spacious and also very nicely decorated in light colors. The bathroom is large and the shower is very good. The mattresses are very good, you can sleep wonderfully. The balcony is also very nice. Everything here is also very clean and tidy. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and there is a beautiful outdoor area with a beer garden. The breakfast buffet is varied and there is something for everyone. Very good in terms of taste and quality. The evening meal is very good. Again, top in terms of taste and quality. The portions are not exactly small either. The food is cooked with love here. Big praise for the kitchen. All the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Here the guest is still king, even if some guests don't deserve it. You can feel very comfortable and enjoy yourself here. A wonderful team is here. We felt very comfortable and would love to come back.

We have been coming to the Altwirt for many years to stay overnight and sometimes for longer with our dog. We have stayed in different rooms, all of which were very spacious and comfortable. Nice big bathrooms. Requests at reception were always fulfilled. Whether it was getting flowers or organizing tolls. WiFi always works. Dogs are welcome. If you have a room facing the street, the soundproofing is very good. We keep coming back!

Good location, wonderful view among the Bavarian hills, close to the Tegernsee which is always a jewel, the room with the windows overlooking the street had double glazing which isolated the noise well. The breakfast is good, more three star than 4, with the possibility of enjoying it on the terrace. Lots of wasps present on the jam. We had dinner two evenings and ate well: grilled sirloin with fried onion, cordon bleu with roast potatoes, carpaccio, Bavarian soup. The only note about the dinner was the price of the 0.75 bottle of water, equal to Euro 5.90: it seemed disproportionate to us compared to the prices of the courses.

Booked a room by phone with a very friendly receptionist and got the room we wanted. Our part of the building was wonderful, south-facing, quiet and with a view of the Alps. Dot-shaped "remains" of insects on the balcony door windows and numerous dead insects in the floor lamp somewhat spoiled the impression of the otherwise very clean and spacious room. In the attractively designed sauna (5 euros extra charge per person) there are 90 and 60 degree saunas and a steam bath, but unfortunately no plunge pool. Very disappointing for me, as I had already had good meals in the restaurant several times. We celebrated our wedding at the Altwirt in June 2022. From the inquiry through the weeks of preparation and the rehearsal dinner to the day of the wedding reception, we felt very well looked after, especially due to the warmth and professionalism of the host and the staff. We can only recommend the location for the celebration (e.g. the possibility of an open-air wedding on a meadow under birch trees, a terrace with a beautiful view of the mountains), but also the hotel (including the rooms). The food both at the celebration (our guests also found it very good) and generally in the restaurant (we were there more than once) has always been delicious and the prices are fair. All in all, the Altwirt is unreservedly recommendable and, in our opinion, a real insider tip in the Munich area. We would love to come back!
