We had a great one night stay here. Super room (Ferguson) with huge comfortable bed (pillows are not great though), great shower and beautiful view over the garden down the valley. The bar has some great ales and there's a lovely beer garden to drink them in. Our evening meal in the back restaurant overlooking the valley was superb. We had the best cheese souffle we've ever had, delicious sea trout and the chicken supreme was really delicious. They also offer a great French rose wine. The cooked breakfast was very good although a little disappointing that no cereals are offered and you are not able to order toast. Didn't like the teapots either. The location is perfect for walking. We did a wonderful walk from the hotel up to Longshaw and back by the river and gorge, and there's plenty more walks nearby. Finally, I have to say all the staff here were so good. We had professional, friendly, and polite service at all times at reception, in the bar and in the restaurant (thanks Hannah). We have already recommended it to friends and will be back next year.

Food was excellent, well prepared, tasty and good value in today's market. Friendly, efficient service from Ben and others. Lovely setting overlooking the hills and valleys.

Very disappointed with our meal and the service we received. We took friends with us for Sunday lunch and we were looking forward to our lunch as this was our first visit. We waited a while for our meals but when they arrived were only just warm and the Yorkshire puddings were cold. My husbands meal was mentioned this to the waitress who took his meal and said she would get hot puddings. The waiter who brought them passed them to me by hand as he needed the plate to take the cold puddings away which didn’t impress me. My husbands meal was left the table to speak to the manager as he didn’t want to complain in front of other diners. The manager apologised and said he would sort out our bill and give a discount. He deducted 20% from the four meals as a gesture of good will. I appreciate that it was late afternoon and we had to eat in the bar as when I booked the restaurant was full but we were all very disappointed overall.

The hotel was lovely. The building was beautiful, the decor was awesome the food was fantastic (breakfast sausages and croissants were absolutely lovely) the bed was harder than I like but still decently comfy. They very kindly upgraded my room which was a nice surprise when I checked in. Room was pretty ( my parents room was nicer than mine decor wise but still pretty) They had parking which is a big plus. Very nice stay

We were a large table of 11 and went for a birthday dinner on Sunday. A standout of the day was the staff, in particular Rachel - she really made the day and was very patient, friendly and attentive. She couldn't do enough to help us with our many questions and checked in on us even when we moved to the outside - amazing service from her! The atmosphere was really nice, the decor inside and outside was gorgeous and it was clean, well-kept and efficiently run. The only thing making this a four-star review other than a five was the food. We had pre-ordered roasts, they were nice but the potatoes were huge and the food was warm but not boiling when it came out. It was enjoyable but we weren't amazed by the meal. Also, whilst staff were aware of allergies, when they bought the food out it was not made clear which roasts were allergen free and they seemed slightly unsure. Overall - it was clean, picturesque and had a lovely atmosphere. The value of food is okay but we would come here again, mainly because of the staff - particularly Rachel who really was brilliant!

Stayed at this hotel for one night to attend a friends wedding with my partner. We were allocated a room above the ballroom (more about that later), which we can honestly say, whilst nicely kitted out, was the smallest double we have ever stayed in. With the bed, side tables and small wardrobe in place there was virtually no floor space, with someone also deciding to try to fit in an on-suite into a room that was clearly not big enough to have one in. Not value for money. The wedding breakfast itself was basic, very nice, with good portion sizes, however, the staff serving the breakfast were all dressed in different clothes, none matching, and one even had a scruffy pair of jeans on. Did not look good, and did not give the impression of high end. Drinks at the bar were as expected, expensive. Back to our room, upon retiring from the wedding, we found we were able to lie in bed (which was comfortable) and still signalong to the wedding disco, not something we wanted, and hence we got little sleep (lucky this was for only one night). At one stage we nearly got up and danced, but the room was not big enough 😂 Whilst the wedding breakfast was as stated really nice, the same could not be said for the breakfast, with slow service and warm food at best. Hotel has small car park and plenty of on road parking. Lovely location, to which we hope to return to, but will be looking for alternative accommodation next time.
