Unbearable Stay – Unsafe Temperatures, Poor Communication, and Complete Lack of Care This was hands down one of the worst travel experiences I’ve ever had, and it completely ruined what should have been a special celebration for my 40th birthday. For the amount we paid, I expected comfort, cleanliness, and professionalism, but instead, we were left freezing, dirty, and completely neglected by the property’s management. 1. Unsafe Temperatures: The heating system in the cottage was broken, and despite turning on space heaters, the temperature in the baby’s room dropped to 13°C. This was extremely unsafe for our baby, and we spent the entire night stressed about her health. We were prepared for a cozy stay, not to sleep in a freezing house. 2. Dirty and Unsanitary Conditions: The cottage was far from clean. We found spiders, cobwebs, dead bugs, and dust all over the place. The bathroom was also filthy with other people’s hair left in the sink and shower. Given the premium price we paid, this level of cleanliness is unacceptable. 3. No Hot Water or Working Hot Tub: We quickly discovered that there was no hot water, so we couldn’t even shower during our stay. To add insult to injury, the hot tub—one of the main reasons we booked this place—was only half-filled with cold water, making it completely unusable. 4. Awful Communication and Delayed Response: When we reported the issues, the property management only responded via text messages. I repeatedly asked for a phone call to handle the matter, but they ignored this request. They promised a handyman would arrive within 20 minutes to fix the heating, but we waited for over two hours, and no one ever came. When they finally responded, they only offered to move us to a dome 15 minutes away, which was not a feasible solution with a baby and all our luggage. 5. No Compassion or Real Effort to Resolve the Problem: Despite telling them about the freezing conditions and the fact that we had a baby with us, their responses were dismissive and lacked any compassion. We were forced to figure things out on our own with no real assistance. When we asked for compensation, they offered only a partial refund, which is insulting considering how much went wrong and how unsafe the conditions were. This stay was a complete disaster. We were cold, uncomfortable, and constantly worried about our baby’s safety. The management’s lack of professionalism, urgency, and care left us with a ruined trip and no resolution. I highly recommend staying far away from this property if you value your safety, comfort, and peace of mind.
