We didn’t book a table for food but luckily as we arrived before food was about to start we managed to get a table. I would advise to book if you definitely want a table as it was quite busy when we went. The food was lovely with good sized portions. Unfortunately we were too full to try the puddings. The staff were very friendly.

If you are vegan or just enjoy plant based food then forget this pub ! Negative... the curry I had dished up to me cost £18 for a plate of peas, cauliflower, rice, smidge of pepper and very mundane curry flavour ! No chutney, no plant based naan, very bland food and not worth £18 at all! Positively I did raise this with staff and the owner did seem concerned and apologised giving a refund. Rest of the party eating meat enjoyed! No plant based milk alternative.. service not great but very busy.. one member of staff pretty rude tbh! Good music and lively atmosphere. Lovely village and pub!

Great pub with great drinks and great service. Lewis was very friendly, accommodating and very helpful! We had a great night and will definitely be returning here! You must try this pub if you’re in the Penrith/Greystoke area! We didn’t try the food but it looks amazing.

We arrived at the boot & shoe on an arranged C2C bike ride. Upon arrival we were not really sure where to store our bikes for the night and had to find somewhere ourselves. We were given the key to our room which was clean and cosy with a great shower and much appreciated hairdryer. Once in the bar area we settled in with a few board games and some good beer. Food was good and the bar staff very obliging. We had a comfortable night and were very much looking forward to breakfast which was very enjoyable with good quality ingredients……unfortunately, we did feel as though we were a nuisance to the lady that served us….maybe she was having a bad day…we are sorry about that but it did result in us being rather glad to leave what could have been an excellent stay.

Arriving on C2C on a wet afternoon were greeted by a helpful barman who helped us store our bikes. The room was quite compact and I would agree with previous reviewers 'tired' with nowhere really to hang anything or bedside tables. The evening meal was great with friendly staff. Breakfast was quite different with miserable staff and landlady who put a damper on the whole day with her weather forecast. Thankfully it proved incorrect but not what you want to hear when you're about to cycle 60 miles over the Pennines!

Fabulous old country pub with comfortable clean and tidy rooms. Great food and beer garden with outside Pizza shack. Would recommend for food or stays. We stayed at the Boot and Shoe as we wanted to break up our journey from Scottish Highlands back to the Midlands. Great choice and good value,

Lovely pub, very clean, staff were very friendly and ensured everyone was served in turn despite some clientele obviously being locals and some visitors to the area, which was good. We had the fortune to have good weather and sat at the front one day and in the lovely beer garden at the back another day. Would love this as my local pub and will definitely go back if we are in the area.

Stayed here on our first night stop of the coast to coast. Evening meal and beers were beautiful. Landlady and chef were very welcoming, rooms were clean and comfortable. Outside beer garden is a great size and lovely in the sun. Would highly recommend anyone to stay in this beautiful village,

Three of us had a Sunday roast there in the evening and we all chose the roast beef.. The portions were generous and could not be faulted. Th service was prompt and all the staff were friendly. It is a lively pub and seemed to be very popular with the locals, who were friendly too. Now I have discovered the place I will definitely be going again when I am up here next. I highly recommend it.
