Location: The hotel is praised for its proximity to ski lifts, often described as a 5-10 minute walk, with picturesque mountain views adding to the appeal.

I visited the hotel on a ski trip with Scouting. The hotel does have WiFi, which is good on the lower levels but when you are up to around floor 2 there is no connection. Food-wise, there is a poor selection. At breakfast, the only hot food that is offered is scrambled eggs and sausages. Dinner always seems to feature 2 or 3 pastas, although sometimes there are other options as well. However, nothing has allergens or vegetarian/vegan labelled on to it. The pasta is tasty, though. Most staff were friendly and helpful (although it was difficult to interact with them sometimes, because of the language barrier). However on one occasion a member of staff acted hostile and seemed almost offended when I asked him to repeat what he said when I didn't understand him. Interski uses this hotel, and as a result there are multiple school groups there at one time. Unfortunately this means that there are kids running around the corridors, being loud and messing around. There are long, communal balconies stretching across multiple rooms, which might be nice for school groups but not if a couple or family is staying there. I don't think that it's a problem with the hotel, but likely due to Interski's incompetence we were originally told that the rooms would be ready for us at 1:30 when we arrived, however it ended up being almost 6:00. The hotel has a picturesque setting as it is up in the mountains, but the downside to this is that it is a bit out of the way and takes a long time to drive to. The hotel's garage is also used to store skiing equipment (so not much room for cars), but there are not even enough racks provided for storing skiis. All in all the hotel does its job, but it's really not the sort of place you would want to stay at with family.

The worst ski hotel I have stayed in. The food was disgusting and inedible. On the plus side the rooms were clean and warm, but the beds are very noisy as two of our neighbours proved at 1pm in the morning, bouncing on the bed for 30mins. The hotel caters for school parties which is probably why the food is so poor. The bar was also poor and smoky due to the connecting door to the smoke room not being sealed. We spent most of our non ski time 100m down the road where there was a choice of beers and bar snacks. I ate out rather than endure their food. The skiing was excellent but do not stay here. I will be writing to Crystal within official complaint.

This is not a hotel during ski season. This is the asylum ... it is awful. 200 plus over-indulged, rude, arrogant school children aged from 10-18 with drunken teachers that took little to no responsibility for the delinquent behaviour. Kids running along dangerous balconies at all hours, using the phones and random calling other rooms, incessant noise throughout the night; the list is endless. This is not family friendly and it is not exclusive to Crystal ... if you value your sanity and your sleep... do not book to stay here. Crystal Ski won't help you!!! The hotel is a huge maze, finding your way around was difficult enough, the electrics are old and plug sockets inaccessible (behind the radiators) I had to use the hairdryer socket in the bathroom to charge phone ... not ideal. The staff ... none of them could control the chaos and the maelstrom caused by 200 children, management was ineffective and clearly there is a serious lack of planning with allocation of rooms . The situation wasn't improved in the ski locker rooms where most of the kids just dumped everything in piles at the end of the day .. plus its not heated so boots don't dry!!! The evening entertainment just added to the madness, a too loud singer in the bar where a pleasant quiet drink and conversation won't happen. It's farcical but true and there is so much more that I could add to this review but quite simply AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE and don't rely on Crystal ski to help, because they don't and won't.

DONOT stay here during the ski season! We booked our ski trip through Crystal as it was a cheap deal. The hotel is very basic but we were expecting this as a reflection of the price, our first two days were pleasant, helpful reception staff, food very basic but edible. We avoided spending time in the bar area as it has a constant smell of smoke that we are just not used to in the uk anymore but our room was ok. However 2 days in the school ski trips descended, they flooded the hotel with constant noise, extremely long queues at meal times and the ski lockers you couldn’t get near. The third evening we went back to our room it was clear we weren’t going to be able to sleep, we had teenagers on our floor, every room was pumping with loud music, they were smoking in their rooms, running up and down the corridors shouting. We decided to remove our family from the hotel and took it upon ourselves to check in to another hotel locally. Such a shame, even the hotel staff looked exhausted, the rep said there was up to 340 children. Monboso should not be sold by crystal as a family friendly hotel, it is a youth hostel ideal for school trips. Maybe during the summer months this would make a cheap get away.

Avoid this hotel like the plague if you don't want your skiing holiday severely impacted by sleep deprivation by 200 plus unruly Italian school children terrorising the whole hotel, every night of your stay! Mealtimes were also a traumatic, free for all scrummage. It was like we'd been placed in a badly run juvenile correctional facility. No one in a position of authority seemed able to effectively take charge, especially the inept teaching staff supposedly supervising their pupils! We booked via Crystal Ski, and I'm very annoyed with them for not indicating that Hotel Monboso mainly carers for large school groups. If I had known, I would never have booked a stay here. Enter here at your peril!

The locations is perfect, closely located to the ski-lifts. However, the hotel is out-dated and is dirty or better say, not daily cleaned. The food is average, but OK after a long day of skiing. If I would be the owner, i would invest in a good quality coffee machine. Last but not least, the ski/snowboard storage is horrible

Professional, helpful and very friendly interaction with all hotel staff. I was part of a large group that consisted of forty children. The building and rooms were quite basic. Only one plug socket that was hanging out of the wall and on opposite side of room to bed. Bathroom was quite compact but very functional. Bedding seemed a bit low quality. Pillows, pillow covers, duvet and duvet cover were nylon or polyester. Mattress very firm but I like that so comfortable for me but very mixed feelings amongst myself group. Food - OK overall as they were catering for perhaps two hundred guests at a time, the service was good with plenty of food on offer. Three pasta dishes, basic salad and two or three second plate dishes on offer every evening. Breakfast had a daily offering of cereal, yogurt, some fruit, some pastries, sliced bread, bread rolls, scrambled eggs and bacon. Drinks - A selection of tea bags, poor quality juice and hot chocolate machine. Coffee - was not good from machine in dining room but only option. Ski slope - Access from hotel involves a five minute walk carrying your skies to gondola or cable car. It's a friendly, comfortable and functional place to stay that perhaps might benefit from a little renovation update... Only in myself opinion !

Situated at the end of the valley and possible to ski in/out sometimes but only 5 min walk to main lifts and small town/bars! Big well laid out hotel that is quite dated with some lifts that don’t work. Basic but suitable given the position and the price. Good bar and well stocked that has some very simple entertainment for children each night. Food is all buffet style and plentiful but simple and it’s ok for the money. Rooms are well appointed warm, clean and of a good size but take an extension block as only one socket is spare) some have a balcony and some even have excellent Mountain View’s!. Ski locker room is very basic but it works as it should; warm but no heated boot stands. This hotel clearly takes school groups and therefore can be busy but there is a separate and well sound insulated room that they normally use!! Overall this is a very good, well priced, basic hotel that’s in a great position, without fancy frills. Very friendly staff and Wi-Fi in bar restaurant foyer…… not in the rooms!
