Hotel Nordend

We stayed at the Hotel Nordend in March 23 for a Skiing trip. It is brilliantly located less than 5 minutes walk for the 2 lifts that take you to the Champuluc & Gressoney areas of the ski region. It is spotlessly clean with a room clean / beds made every day. Beds very comfortable and even though the rooms are Compact they have everything you need including tea and coffee facilities. The staff are Friendly and helpful at all times and the hotel is run by a couple who are bringing up their young children there which gives it a Lovely relaxed feeling. We chose the half board option and the food was fantastic. Breakfast had everything you could want; cereals and fruit & yoghurt, cooked breakfast, meats and cheeses, toast, pastries, pancakes, and cakes. The evening meal was Cooked by the restaurant underneath the hotel which was high quality and great value for a 4-course meal. Even though there were only a few choices for each course we always found something we enjoyed and it was great to know we were going to be looked after at the end of a busy day. The restaurant has a very knowledgeable sommelier who guided us to some excellent local wines. The hotel has a nice spa area with sauna and steam room. I can’t recommend this enough- we will definitely stay here again if we come back to Staffal. The ski region has enough skiing to keep you interested for 5 days. It doesn’t have much for beginners but for Good skiers it is good and is renowned for its off piste opportunities.

Excellent small hotel representing very good value. Very clean rooms with lovely bedding and towels, our room was small, but perfectly comfortable and they even supplied a kettle and teabags! Marco and his wife who run the hotel, were very friendly and helpful, with booking restaurants etc. Breakfast was good, with a comprehensive selection of things to choose from, including lots of fresh cakes and local treats. Very convenient location, 3 mins walk to the ski lifts to take you up to the pistes, all very easy. Gressoney is a small quiet spot, but we ate somewhere different every night on a 5 night stay, and there is thumping apres ski bar right beside the hotel for a dance and a sundowner.

Great location, very clean and well maintained. The problem is the surprisingly poor customer service. They made us all feel like we were doing them a favor by being there. Never a smile or welcome or any offer to help with anything. PS Do not rely on the free parking because there are only a handful of spots.
