It’s ok, we paid over £100 a night (this seems to be higher than what most people have paid but could have been due to staying over the August bank holiday) and was not worth the money. It looks fairly nice on the outside but inside stank of stale cigarette, including all of the stairways. The room was quite spacious and had a mini fridge freezer which was useful. The room was well decorated (although, it was missing hooks to tie curtains etc) but was quite dirty and the towels looked to be from the 80s, threadbare and had holes in them. The bed was ok, spring matress with a foam topper and the pillows are very hard and uncomfortable and the bedding had tearing on the covers. If I had spent the average of around £50 a night I would have said “you get what you pay for” but at £100 a night it really was a disappointing stay. Plus notes, great location and very secure.

As someone who lives in Norfolk, a trip to Great Yarmouth was planned, in order to attend the yearly Out There Festival, so a friend of mine joined me from Clacton-on-Sea in Essex and we stayed there from Wednesday 29 May, having just returned home today (Monday 3 June). The hotel famously won on Channel 4’s TV show, Four In A Bed, (not sure of precise year). It was rated 4-star and was ran by a married couple, who have since retired, and new management has taken over. On initial entry, it was a pleasant hotel, big garden area out the front, modern security features, door and actual room intercoms too.. and the staff were friendly and showed you to your room. The room itself was pleasant, Freeview TV, tea/coffee facilities, large sash windows, comfortable bed, sink in bedroom, radiators, drawers and access to a communal toilet and shower cubicle. Breakfast was not provided, although there’s plenty of places to eat as the main shopping area and amusements/sea front etc., are all within walking distance. I had become aware that there was an unpleasant musty smell, the TV was not correctly connected to the aerial, as an announcement kept coming up on the screen whilst you are watching TV, and a tap that couldn’t be switched off, so I had to sleep with the tap constantly running, and as there were no staff around, I managed to get it sorted out during the day. Also, the sink was too small to refill the kettle, so I had to go to the shower to use that water! It was a comfortable stay but NOT 4-star, plus the photos on the website are from how it all look originally, and that both of these need updating, so it is more honest.

Having read old reviews from when the previous owners had the property, I had high hopes for this guest house. However, on arrival we were shown to our room (deluxe) and I was horrified to find that it was apparent that the beds had only been made, but not changed, from previous visitors. The were hairs and stains all over the bed sheets, layers of dust on all surfaces and a damp smell throughout. We immediately checked out after advising ******* of this issue. In the following weeks, the owner of the property failed to respond to any communication that ******* were sending. I warn anyone who was considering this property to sincerely consider elsewhere!

This is certainly far from a 4 star. Central location with a comfortable bed but that’s about the extent of the positive’s. Shabby room. Wardrobe was propped up with a piece of card to stop it toppling over. Not deep enough for a coat hanger so items hung at an angle . Mini fridge , the seal wasn’t great. En suite shower, water pressure was terrible, note on wall instructing water to be run 5-10 minutes before expecting it to run hot! So little room between sink and shower we had to stand at an angle to wash. Lack of tea bags and a hair dryer, although in fairness the manager did rectify this immediately. Please note, if you are lucky enough to find a parking space outside the hotel, it will cost £5 a day payable via the hotel. All in all, extremely disappointed with quality and cleanliness of this room , in my opinion it was at best a 2 star.

Upon booking via *********** you get the option to choose a check in time. We was going to check in late, as travelling about five hours, after work. Unlike others we didn’t struggle with parking but once arrived at the guest hours there was no one to meet to greet us and we had to call a number to be given code to get in and be told what room we was in. The owner couldn’t be bothered to come meet us, even thought we stated we was going to book in late. They said they were in bed in pjs, so wasn’t going to meet us. They claimed they tried to contact us to give us details about how to get in, but funny we only got this sent via text after calling. *********** gave us a pin, we had no idea what this was for, presumed it was the front door code, but this wasn’t the case. We had room six, a small double. The mattress was lumpy and could feel the springs. Even laying on top of the duvet they could be felt. The room we was aware was going to be small as it states its a small double, but we underestimated how small. The room was hot, the window hardly kept any noise out, backing onto what I imagine was a drug den. Loud noises and small of ********. We think its recently been taken over by a new owners, from reading old reviews. The pictures are deceiving and I believe are from previous owners as such nice treats shown like croissants are now replaced with just biscuits. Since checking this morning some pictures might have been removed as they have had a few bad reviews this month. It’s a so called four star guest house, with great reviews. This certainly isn’t! Read recent reviews and not just the positive ones. We couldn’t stay there and had to check in to a well known hotel chain. The one thing you want when staying at a place is a mattress that you can sleep on! This should be a basic requirement.

Booked through ***********, paid £93 for double deluxe with sea view. The guest house was well positioned and we were fortunate enough to park nearby using a mipermit/parking operations app. Checked in with the host who was there! Recently been taken over by new owners. First impressions weren’t great, a very strange smell! We had room 2 which had a small balcony and two old chairs which we did actually use to sit out on early in the morning, with a cuppa. Nice sea view. It was so hot, the room was like a sauna, so asked for a fan and left the balcony doors open during the day and night as couldn’t have slept otherwise. The bed was so soft and unsupportive, one side had a big dip in it. Small adequate bathroom which worked well. The room was clean all be it smelly! Tea tray with biscuits, tea bags and coffee with milk & sugar. The people in Great Yarmouth have changed so much since I was last there 20 years ago and I wouldn’t stay ever again in a guest house.

What a lovely little place! Having booked a last minute weekend away we arrived early and were warmly welcomed by the owner. We had the fab room with the balcony and were lucky enough to have some great weather and enjoyed a nice early morning cuppa in the sunshine. The room was very clean and beautifully presented with lots of little touches. The breakfast had lots of choice and was delicious, I couldn't stop eating it! Great value, good location, just an all round very nice hotel that I would definitely recommend, thank you for being great hosts
