Glendale Hotel

Unfortunate to visit during the June heatwave as my allocated room was on the third (top) floor and it was boiling. There was an ineffective ceiling fan but it was impossible to get comfortable. I had to leave after one sleepless night. One power point was broken and there was a lack of long hanging space. Effective shower, kettle and hairdryer. Small television, but the picture kept buffering and pixelating - possibly due to the heatwave? Very poor internet connection - had to piggyback my mobile phone. Positives are the excellent location and quality of on-site restaurant. Beware when booking, as I was expecting inclusive breakfast but was asked to pay an extra £15. I hope this is a balanced report, and that some of the problems were due to climatic conditions.

We were in the area for a wedding and found this little gem of a hotel to stay overnight. It is EXCELLENT - the food and the staff - we couldn't fault anything. The Glendale is a quirky hotel with a superb Italian restaurant. Although we only stayed one night and live nearly three hours away, we will definitely be back and bring our friends - it was that great an experience!

Noisy room Single room 11 was very noisy. The water pipes for the main tank run through the room, and as the hotel was busy, the water was constantly running. This had not stopped at 23.40; and started again at 6am. Not much sleep! I complained, but no action taken.

The property is what you expect, a 2 star hotel, I stayed in single bed with en-suite, Overall the room was clean and I had a comfortable stay.

We stayed in a family room at the hotel, only to discover that all family rooms are at the front of the hotel, and have very little sound proofing from the restaurant below (with an air unit blowing until 11 pm) and the pub over the road. We were kept awake until 1 am with the noise. The room itself had old stains on the wall and was not worth the price of the stay. I would definitely not recommend staying in this hotel if you want to sleep
