The hotel is gorgeous and everyone who works at the hotel is wonderful from the people who welcome you, the lovely servers at meals and the fabulous bar tender. The entire hotel is so special with gorgeous vistas and amazing artwork. The rooms are very pretty and perfectly clean. Sadly we only had two nights here. I left wishing I had taken many more pictures of all the gorgeous tiles, flowers, beautiful art everywhere.

We stayed here for two nights last week at the start of a few days in Portugal looking at various places we might retire to. We should have done this hotel as our last stay as everywhere else was a disappointment after this! The room was fantastic (even the room snacks were locally made) and the staff were so caring. Very peaceful and relaxing.

Faultless, even when you’re trying! Anytime I wanted to be absolutely certain of a place, I would go here. Attention to details, it is playful, the staff are warm, super competent. Everything was just a joy and that is hard to find these days. No LED lights in the rooms, a comfortable well ventilated atmosphere, peaceful but friendly, not stuffy, large comfortable, beautifully designed rooms. This is hotel where corners have not been cut, the client is never short changed. It is masterful. Also I think a wonderful hotel if you are traveling solo. It is a nurturing environment.

Absolute perfection. One of the very best hotels I've ever stayed in. Beautiful decor, immaculate grounds, delicious food, professional and friendly staff. Every comfort you can imagine... and a great bar! We loved our stay and wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely be back. Every room is different and exquisite.

This was our second stay at the wonderful Vermelho and it may interest potential visitors to know that it shone as brightly this time as it did previously. Nothing was too much trouble for the professional and friendly staff—who had recalled the small item we left behind many months previously and gave it back to us, for just one small example of the superb service. We stayed in a new room, every bit as fun and stylish as the previous time. This one had a large bath on the balcony, which I highly recommend. Excellent empale in the hotel restaurant and a dangerously tempting array of possibilities of breakfast. In short, outstanding

My wife and I went to Vermelho for a belated anniversary getaway for a few days. From the moment we stepped into the property we were blown away by the natural beauty, style and design, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, and the incredible space that we enjoyed tremendously for a few days. Ana greeted us and was amazing! She showed us the property and gave us a welcome drink. But not just that, we sat in the lounge and she walked through our itinerary with us and gave us recommendations for the few days. Then she guided us to our room and again we were so pleased. She had made some prior arrangements for me and had gone way above and beyond my expectations. The hotel itself is lovely and relaxing. You can tell a lot of thought, creative energy and love went into the design. The modern meets old world charm is stunning and the surroundings themselves are the best that Alentejo has to offer. The room was well appointed, a great size and very comfortable. My wife is very very (very!) picky about beds and she was pleased with the comfort. Our room had a beautiful second floor balcony with a huge tiled tub and table and chairs for us to enjoy the quiet space and gorgeous view of the property. Once we settled in again we were surprised by a 20 minute each welcome foot massage in the relaxing spa room by Timoteo. We were able to both be in the room while we each received an amazing massage (I also had a deep tissue massage and it was incredible- Timoteo is excellent, warm and very friendly). We also had breakfast included in our stay and that also did not disappoint. The restaurant (Xtian) served a great variety of delicious and healthy breakfast foods. We also had dinner one night in the restaurant, and again it was a great experience with excellent service and delicious Portuguese food. We cannot say enough good things about our experience. Each member of staff was warm, kind, friendly, caring, attentive and made us feel like royalty. My wife happened to get a slight cold whilst we were there, and it was as if the entire hotel knew about it… they brought her tea and biscuits and each member of staff we encountered asked how she was feeling. They even charged our electric car for us twice. This hotel is an absolute gem! I have traveled the world and stayed in hundreds of hotels for business and pleasure, and this was one of my top 10 experiences by far. We will be back for sure.

We were completely exhausted when we arrived. It is an extremely calm and welcoming hotel, a little difficult to find as there are roads closed at present. However it really is the most beautiful hotel we've ever been to, but it is not a case of style over substance. The staff. The staff. The staff. So very lovely. The rooms are gorgeous and lounge very welcoming. The food was really excellent. I don't know why they don't have a Michelin star yet. The wine selection was limited but the excellent sommelier Joao suggested some lovely wines. The design of everything from the sculpture to the door handles was exquisite. Perfect for a stay of a couple of nights.

Wow times 10! This was my favorite get-a-way in all of Portugal. I can't say enough good things about Vermelho Melides. It's a gem tucked away in a small little village and you feel so special when here. The staff is sincere, caring and on point with everything you need and more. The restaurant is dynamite and leaves a marvelous impression on you. The chef has thoughtfully curated a wonderful menu and drinks! It's better than many Michelin restaurants we've been to. I dream of coming back here, but for longer though. Splurge and stay as long as you can. I know I will next time.
