Club Med la Pointe Aux Canonniers

A once beautiful old lady in sad decline! Cavernous, undecorated public areas with no sense of style or cohesiveness - about as inviting as a railway canteen. Toilet facilities with broken handles and breathless hand driers. The once lush gardens dry and dying. The buffet, average, but particularly at breakfast, runs out and isn’t replenished. The station chefs appear disgruntled, despondent, and understaffed. Service staff in the dining areas are as scarce as the spoons on the tables. The cappuccino machine dispenses hot chocolate instead of milk froth. No availability of snorkelling equipment at a beach resort! A sense of slow decay pervades the property - a staircase bannister fell over! It is easier for a Libiyan refugee to get French nationalonality than to register an infant for child care!

This is a prime ClubMed village with brilliant staff and very good facilities. The food was excellent and sports facilities very good

I am a big Club Med fan having travelled with the system for over 25 years and was looking to the first family holiday there with my toddler. Overall, Mauritius is beautiful and I would love to come back for more of an exploratory trip, but wouldn't come back to Pointe... Some of the great parts are: 1. Multiple swimming pools and beaches for all tastes 2. You can never go hungry or thirsty, with foods available throughout the day at different places 3. Good variety of both water and land sports 4. Childcare (although the baby club was booked out and we ended up using a local babysitter who was looking after my son within the same space) What I expected to be great - but found to be sub par: 1. The pillows are super uncomfortable - neither me nor my husband managed to get a good night sleep with them. 2. The GO team seem to pay lip service to friendliness and engagement, didn't bring as much energy and hardly spoke English. Some stay on the phone when you are at their station. Even when when a mixed bus of English/ French speakers were leaving, the guy only gave his goodbyes in French 3. Food variety and quality wasn't as good as some other locations - I ended up walking around several times before settling on something. However, what's more worrying is that some food in restaurant gets pecked by birds and NOT PUT AWAY even though the chefs see it (e.g. deserts on the display counter) 4. Transfers from/ to the airport. On the way in we had a negative experience as we had to wait about 20 mins for them to get our car in and is the driver seemed independent rather than from the usual company, we had to walk around different parking spots before we found it (not a great thing to do after a 12 hour flight). Going back, 4 families with children were all bungled in one bus with limited space for car seats and families to sit comfortably. 5. Super subjective, but the DJ was off both during day and evening entertainment and made us not want to be around when 'tailored' music was being played

This was a delicious energetic and happy experience with staff from every level housekeeping wait staff and even ground crew were warm and inviting

Club Med in Mauritius is a wonderful place with wonderful people. The members of the G.O team made the vacation unforgettable and incredible fun. Thank you so much to Carisse, Megane, Rai, Sky, Rajiv, Luthfee and Neil (who are ready to help others, friendly and always giving attention to people). Carisse is very kind and full of energy, she is always welcoming and available to spend good times with me. Thank you for the proven time together! The sea is excellent, the water is very warm. There is a lot of activity during the day. The breakfasts, lunches and dinners are varied. I would like to say a big thank you to the entire G.O team for the incredible atmosphere they created during my stay here. I would really like to come back here again!

We had incredible time at this place, we went for 2 weeks with 2 toddlers. Beach, sea, beach facilities - amazing! Water ski team - amazing - SOHAIL, ASAEL and all the ski team members whose names I don’t remember! Very cool team, chilled atmosphere, supporting, caring and eager to explain to you all the details so that you succeed! Snorkeling team - amazing! Thank you ANDY for showing the beauty of the underwater world! Petit club and Mini club - amazing! ANANAS and all other team members whose names I didn’t memorize - thank you for taking care of our kids and letting us parents relax and recover! Restaurant and food - very good! Plenty of fresh fruits, fish, meat, seafood evenings! It was one of our best vacations! Regarding improvements : Rooms are ok, but a bit outdated, maybe will need some renovation soon! Around 7 quite big dogs live at the beach, sometimes they fight between each other, the first day I was terrified and was afraid for our small kids since dogs who live in packs can be quite agressive - but at the end it was ok, I never saw them attacking people but my advice is to observe your kids and not let them approach too close. Dogs are dogs. I would come back already tomorrow ! Tanya 👋
