Our recent stay at the Veranda Grand Baie was extremely disappointing to say the least. We stayed in June 2024, and our entire experience was very far from the 4 star hotels we were expecting. Despite having a smooth check-in, we spent our first night with a room full of cockroaches, and as much as we understand we are in a tropical country and these sort of things can happen, we were quite disappointed about the slow reactivity of the staff to deal with this matter the next morning. Having to remind the reception multiple times (both over the phone and physically at the reception) to kindly ask to send someone was not exactly the service we were hoping for! This could have been all forgotten quickly but unfortunately we also had to deal with a shower issue that same morning. Our bathroom was completely flooded as soon as we would take a shower. We spent that morning calling the reception and having to wait for someone to come and take a look at it - of course this person never came to investigate. However, we did have a visit from a staff member to come and check our mini bar, which was an absurd situation to be in. FIY, they are all about charging you more money! That's the only time, I've seen them being very reactive. We find it extremely frustrating that we had to make our way to the reception with our luggages and request to be allocated to another room when this should have been offered in the first place by the Veranda staff. All of these, meant that we waisted our first morning at the hotel when we had other plans, especially for our first day in Grand Baie. From that point on, everything went a little downhill for us and we started noticing many small details that we were not happy about. To name a few; part of our luggages were forgotten and not brought to our new room, meaning we had to call ONCE MORE the reception, being treated like we are not clients on the resort beach until giving our room number, no apologies given for the inconvenience of the cockroaches and bathroom flood, we were told to carry our own luggages to the car when checking out when someone came to help us for our check-in, prices in the hotel shop not reflecting the hotel tax added on top when paying, neither it was even mentioned or explained in the first place. Everything felt very money orientated, and it wasn’t even subtle. Having stayed in many 4/5 star hotels, Veranda definitely doesn’t offer the standard service of those establishments. Don't bother!
