Hotel El Mirador

Stayed at this hotel on a Travel Department ”Highlights of Andalucia” Tour. Would recommend they seek somewhere else as there are significant issues especially with the food. The offerings gave the impression that the hotel was working on a low budget, the food was of a poor quality and limited choice. Once it was gone, it was gone! There was little evidence of food being replenished and some of the dishes were inedible: a stringy beef stew one evening and a revolting pumpkin soup another. Very, very disappointing, the worst food I have tasted on a Travel Department tour. Surly woman on reception who rarely smiled; a real shame as the hotel itself is spotless and comfortable. Too remote, would suggest Travel Department look at alternative locations in future.

You could not find a better situated Hotel in the centre of Granada. We initially had a problem with one of the rooms a we had requested a twin bedded room through our agent but apparently this was not confirmed so they had booked us into a double. The receptionist was so helpful and after a discussion arranged for us to view the rooms still available before we agreed to taking the most suitable. The problem was overcome because all the twin bedded rooms were already booked we took a double into which they put an extra single bed although we had to pay extra. Throughout our stay all the staff were so helpful and attentive, no request was too difficult. If we ever return to Granada we would not hesitate to stay again. There were still Covid restrictions in place (June 2022) so there were no brochures or pamphlets displayed, but the receptionists were all very helpful in answering any questions about facilities in the hotel and about Granada itself - where bus stops were for different buses, cafe's restaurants etc. The breakfast in the hotel was not a buffet (Covid) restrictions) but was waiter service, the menu having a good selection - try the toast with avocado and tomato!

Stayed for 2 nights on a room only basis. Spotlessly clean and very friendly staff. Rooms have a good mini fridge, and there is a kitchen next to Reception with a kettle, microwave, cutlery and crockery. Bus stop outside goes to the Alhambra for €1.40. Good selection of bars outside the hotel, and about a 10 minute stroll to the Cathedral, or Bib Rambla all on the flat. At the start of the narrow road to the hotel is a roundabout. Here is the Marquis’s sister hotel - great for breakfast. Scrambled eggs, bread, coffee and a large bowl of fruit & yogurt will set you up for the day for under €10. Just around the corner you can catch the C32 bus to Albaicin for €1.40. Lovely views going up a very steep climb. Get out at St Nicolas Square at the top. There are a couple of cafés next to the square where you can enjoy a coffee or beer, with the most amazing views of the Alhambra, then catch the bus or walk downhill (about 20 mins) back into the centre. We were worried about driving and parking in Granada, so we parked up in a little town outside of Granada, called El Fargue (coming in from Murcia), and caught the N8 bus in. Cost €1.40, and travels down the only main road through every hour, just after the hour, to Jardines del Triunfo, which is the other end of the main Gran Via de Colon - a 15 min flat stroll from the hotel, or a 5 min taxi ride. N8 bus returns to El Fargue from the same place at half past the hour. Saved the stress and expense of driving and parking in the City. Very successful. We will certainly do it again, and we will also stay at the Marquis Urban again.

Palacio de Mariana Pineda

Albaicin
Palacio de Mariana Pineda was an absolute dream place to stay in Granada during our honeymoon. We stayed in both the Junior Suite with Alhambra View and the City View Deluxe Double, either of which we’d recommend for stunning day and nighttime views of the Alhambra. The hotel is located right on Carrera del Darro. The staff were very friendly and helpful with recommendations of good places to get tapas, go see a flamenco show, and other places of interest in Granada. We highly recommend Palacio de Mariana Pineda for your stay in Granada.
Hotel Victoria Playa

Location of hotel is perfect go out the gate down the slope and you are on the beautiful beach of santo Tomas had a issue with the air conditioning in the room which took 2 visits to correct but give the hotel credit it was fixed which was surprising as this hotel is having a refurbishment and will be TUI Blue next season. Check in quick deposit for pool towels taken like alot of hotels, grounds are lovely spent alot of the time in garden area clean and tidy. Food ok but we are not fussy eaters the restaurant had no atmosphere more like a school or work canteen and the main issue with hotel is the tracing paper they call walls between rooms, during the refurbishment I hope the put in soundproofing as you can hear your neighbour's sneezing. We went all inclusive and had a reasonable selection of drinks but I feel the snacks should be covered to stop the large amount of flies landing on them needless to say we did not partake in snacks. Rooms tired and in words of estate agent compact with a large bathroom and adequate terrace.
