Gran Canaria Hotels with Airport pickup service

Spent 4 nights at Bluebay Beach Club across the back end of November. Overall I wouldnt say it was a bad holiday. You pay for a cheap holiday, you get a cheap holiday. There are a few things I would change or update. Firstly the rooms definately are outdated, so dont be suprised with them. TV socket was hanging from the wall not secured properly, however the view overlooking the sea is brilliant and its a huge balcony too. Youre hardly going to spend much time in the rooms anyway, but it would be nice if a bit more time and money were invested into them. The rooms are big, completely seperate bedroom to the living room, with a kitchen that has everything you need. Dishwasher, oven, toaster, big fridge. So if you want to cook in your rooms its easy. Television we had to pay to get the international channels. It was €10 for 3 nights that we took, you could do less or more depending what you wanted. Also had to pay for a safe which is €4.50 per night. This was frustrating though because you shouldn't have to pay extra for a safe or to have tele seperately, Im sure most would agree that youd much rather have both of these included, but have it charged within the cost of the holiday itself so you dont see it. Would make much more sense just to increase the price of staying at the hotel by £50 per package and have that cover the costs of the safe and television. Customers would appreciate that alot more. The hotel is right next to a little airport so you do get a few planes going over to land or take off. Didnt bother me at all, but its something to be aware of. This only happens during the day and it isnt constantly happening, and it isnt overnight or early in the morning There is a shop downstairs on site so you can get all your basic needs there. Water, juice, bread, snacks, shower gel etc for the room. No chemist though. For the chemist you have to go out the hotel. Because we know the area very well, we was getting taxis down to one of the better beaches by San Agustin shopping centre, which was a 5 minute taxi drive and cost €7 there, and then €7 back. The food in the restaurant wasnt too bad. Get your mix of pizzas chips, some nights, others its fish, chicken rice. You do have to pay for drinks when having your dinner though! This was annoying because again its a hidden cost you dont expect. Again, itd be better to just charge this against the overall cost of the hotel so you dont see it, but you get it. Our room was quite high up so we didnt see any cockroachs at all in the room, but it was a bit of a walk to the reception. We did happen to stay next to a noisy parrot though which was a shame. Not the hotels fault, nothing they can do about a neighbour who has a parrot out. It would sometimes be noisy middle of the night so if youre a light sleeper you would wake up, but it does stop and go quiet for hours on end and it wasnt every single night that it made noise Pool area is really nice with lots of sun loungers and places to sit. Let's start with the good things - the communication with the hotel even before arrival was relatively good, they responded to our inquiries regarding the room location request, but of course they kept giving an answer that they did not commit, but when we arrived, they made a note and gave us the location we wanted (in retrospect, we did not choose well - details below). There are many sun beds around the pool, the room is spacious and the location of the hotel is excellent. Now for the things that disappointed us - we asked for a room in the center facing the pool because of the view but we found that during the whole day there is a very, very strong sun on the balcony to such an extent that it is not possible to sit there all day, it's a shame they didn't put a beach umbrella or a pergola. There was no microwave in our room even though it was supposed to be (we didn't even bother to ask), during the first three days there were massive renovations in the hotel. At first the reception representative told us that it was something specific but it really wasn't, we saw that they had put scaffolding in the rooms next to it to renovate the balconies and also on the roof there was a large team working noisily with a drill and at the same time trucks arrived and unloaded sand into the garden. All this when the hotel was fully booked in one of the most requested weeks of the year. At the entrance to our room there were glasses from the room next door that were probably pushed out for the cleaner to take but they stayed there for 4 whole days. Even though we locked the room, the cleaner entered the room (locking it from the inside has no meaning...). One day the power went out in the gym and none of the hotel staff noticed at all (I went to the reception to inform them) and the hardest thing of all - at breakfast which is in the open bar by the pool there are a lot of pigeons that come and sit on the tables and the bar and the food stalls. Most of the food is enclosed in glass installations, but the surface of the bread and the heater and the drinks and the jams and many other things are exposed to the pigeons that come and sit on them and none of the staff does anything about it. Today there are many solutions for imitating ions even using electronic sound devices. Beyond the fact that it was disgusting, it is simply dangerous, a pigeon sitting on a surface of bread is diseases. Another thing, there is a nice bar by the pool but there is only one bartender/waiter so the waiting time to get a drink is around 25 minutes and the service is not very welcoming either. There are two large and beautiful pools but the water is really cold (it's a shame they don't heat it) and it will be really difficult for smokers. There are no smoking areas at all in the entire hotel except for standing in the strong sun next to a bin in the corner of the pool and restaurant area, unable to sit down and unable to put down a drink. The facility and the room are very nice. The pool was freezing cold, the heated poll worked like that. The food & drinks need improvement. Sometimes less is more ;-) focusing more on quality would be recommended! We had a dispute about the booking and had to pay extra. However, we did nothing wrong and had to show our confirmation again and again. We found this very unpleasant. There were also difficulties returning the towels. We'll be surprised as to whether our €50 security fee will be charged to the credit card or not. Overall the stay was ok, but we wouldn't come back or recommend it to others.

You are paying for the view. Full stop. The view is outstanding. But the service and staff obviously hate their jobs, and people. The rooms are pleasant, but the balcony view makes staying here worthwhile. Sunset over the valley with views of tiede are immense. Being based in the area for the hiking is also brilliant as the hiking options are many and all outstanding. Unfortunately the service at the cafe and at brekfast is beyond poor. The staff would rather you were not there, or alive. Extremely slow and when they are compelled to take your order they are grumpy and show how much they hate it. This was the case both in the brekfast hall and the hotel cafe. The food was good, but not really worth the wait. It’s a shame as with an improved service it would be a great place to stay. Alternatively enjoy the view during the day on a hike and find somewhere else to stay.

I am currently staying in the don Miguel and what an amazing hotel and experience we’ve had, the rooms are perfect very modern and spacious when looking at other reviews they do sound like they have never been here before couldn’t have any complaints about the room if I tried, me and my girlfriend are here I’m 19 and she’s 18 and we found this a great hotel for young couples and pretty much everyone as there is a really great mix of ages and nationalities, it is a very diverse hotel which feels very welcoming to everyone, the service is amazing the staff couldn’t do more if they tried, the food was good it does have a variety in the night for people like me who is very adventurous with my eating and the basics depending on what you like, we only stayed for a week but I could see if you stayed longer and ate in every night you would maybe get a little bored as the selection is a decent size but I would highly recommend eating out ( papis grill and the hardrock cafe are amazing, also the tipsy hammock!) the facilities are amazing here and easily earns its 4 star status really hard to find a fault in this place, will definitely be returning

Room 607, the hotel is brilliant. The staff are polite and attentive. The hotel it’s exceptionally clean and your bed is made every day. The atmosphere is amazing and the people here are so friendly. The food is great and so much choice, but I think the fish is over cooked and a little dry but it’s still nice but for my preference it is dry. There’s so many options for snacks around the pool and drinks. The Spanish measures still stand in the Canary Islands too. It’s more like a 4* hotel not a 3*.

From the moment we arrived and had our first meal we knew this hotel was very nice indeed . So starting with the food the selection was truly amazing at every mealtime and even in the snack . Evening meals we had roasts , fish , tiger prawns , smoked salmon and even caviar WOW ! Huge salad bar and choices of rice pastas and potatoes and veg . If you don’t want formal lunch the snack bar does help yourself burgers sandwiches pizza (to die for ) pasta hotdogs and the usual chips nuggets and fish fingers . Still a big salad bar and gorgeous homemade soup . Great selection in every venue I challenge anyone to be hungry . Drinks plentiful and lager much better than normal Spanish fayre . The rooms are big with very comfy beds and walk in showers they are extremely clean and the maid service is exceptional . The pool is huge and very clean with plentiful sun beds and the adult only spa area is really nice with lots more sun beds this is really neat the snack bar for ease of getting drinks . The entertainment was the usual singer or circus act ok if you like that sort of thing we went out after dinner every night as not our cup of tea . All in all though this hotel is amazing and I’m booking again for next year

From the base we could not stay in the hotel that we had booked for air-conditioning problems I think I remember , they relocated us in a much better one and with exceptional services both in conditions of the hotel Hotel like staff.

We felt well truly pampered during our stay. The hotel is tastefully furnished & clean. Our room was a little on small side.(sea view double). Housekeeping was excellent including ample supply of bath beach & poolside towels. Breakfast was good excellent service & setting. Roof top panoramic views. The 3 pools, whirlpool & surrounds were v clean & well maintained. The evenings in the roof top lounge sipping cocktails idyllic
