Hótel Hrífunes by Ourhotels

Beautiful comfy, remote spot. We arrived around 3:30 and it was too late to make a dinner reservation - we had not brought food with us so we do recommend coming prepared or planning ahead. Breathtaking views. We went to the Hfrunes Guesthouse first by mistake and wandered around lost for a while - so know that “GV” is what you should see on your reservations, when we tried to call for help no one answered.

Evening lamb or mushroom soup at Glacier View was a staple for us for the 3 nights we stayed at the Hrifunes Guesthouse next door. It’s a relaxed, friendly atmosphere that overlooks a stunning landscape of the Hekla volcano / ice cap and glacial outwash plain. Tommasso and Simon waited on us and were both courteous and helpful in familiarizing us with the area.

Fantastic place! Location is amazing, room was clean and comfort, breakfast tasty and served in dining room with fantastic 360• view. Host was very helpful and friendly. Thanks!

Our stay at the Guesthouse was wonderfull! The host Rafal was absolutely lovely and an amazing Hotelmanager, who made our experience ten times better. The remote guesthouse was picturesque. The cabins with their large windows offer a wonderful view. The rooms were incredibily comfortable, clean and warm. The highlight was definitely the lounge, where you can relax and spend the evening together.

After an exhausting day, the staff at the Guesthouse were warm and welcoming. They even made some home made snacks for my exhausted kids and us. I thoroughly enjoyed our stay! the views are breathtaking and hope to get back soon.

This was the most fabulous place we have stayed at - the hosts, Elin and Borgar, are incredible kind and hospitable. The staff, Manassa and Michael, were also amazing, friendly, and really fun to chat with. It felt like staying with fun family. The dinners are a must add-on and 100% worth it; the website describes them as a home-cooked 3-course meal but they are so much more than that and super delicious. Finding great food in the area is really hard and it was so convenient to eat at the guesthouse, then go for an evening stroll, then retire. Had amazing homemade soups, daal, lamb, fish and tons of other sides. The breakfast is included and really great as well - a nice spread of everything and with amazing views of the glaciers. The hotel rooms are very nicely designed and comfortable. We had to change our booking dates because a couple of us got COVID when we were originally supposed to travel. Elin was really very accommodating and allowed us to change the dates at no additional cost. She is very responsive on email and phone. I would recommend this guesthouse to everyone and will be to everyone I talk to who is going to visit Iceland.

Very nice remote place with a lovely flair and great hospitality. The food was excellent and the rooms nice and cosy. Strong recommendation and big thx to the team for hosting us in such a great manner. We felt welcome from the first minute and had a lovely time

It's rare that I write reviews on the places we visit, but Glacier View Guesthouse provided such a rare experience. Simply put- STAY HERE. From the moment we walked through the beautiful front door to the shared lobby space, we were greeted by the host couple and two of their family-like staff. Smiles, offers of fresh cookies and refreshments and a clear willingness to go above and beyond to make our stay special. We were two families with several young children and they offered to make fresh pizza and pasta for the kids as we got settled. Our children loved exploring the grounds with free space to roam and explore beyond the buildings. The hostess offered to include us in a home-cooked, multi-course dinner that evening- which is not something we'd typically say yes to or spend the extra money on. Let me tell you-- it was worth every penny. The food was restaurant-quality and ended up the best meal we had on our trip. The family-style farm table allowed us to get to know others staying at the Guesthouse and the wine was a heavy pour in a lovely personal carafe. It was those little touches that made it all special. The rooms were modern, clean and well-appointed. It appears as though it has all been redone and updated because each space we entered was pristine. Had I not had my little children with us, I would have spent hours curled up in a couch in the shared living room area, reading with wine and gazing out at the views. Michael (unsure of spelling) was like a manager from a movie- he was kind, attentive and truly takes so much pride in his position. Breakfast came with more surprises of fresh wellness juice shots, homemade jams and bread, pancakes etc. Our only regret was staying just one night at this one-of-a-kind gem in Iceland.

A wonderful place to stay! Great food and company. Our room was practical and confortable while travelling with our one year old. Elin and Borgar were adorable with us and our daughter. We definitely recommend !
