Chateau de Montvillargenne

We were very pleasantly surprised at this Chateau. The rooms were fun (oddly decorated, but that was cool -- shag carpeting is a bit dated, but it had its charm). The beds were large and comfortable. The bathrooms modern. (There's a sink in the WC, but no hook or rod for a towel! Nor was there soap!) We overlooked the front of the chateau which was nice except for the first night when it was loud until late from a wedding. The service was excellent. The front desk was efficient and the staff very nice. The location was lovely. One was able to stroll around (except for the weather). The bar and restaurant were very nice. We didn't take advantage of the pool, however.

Booked a 2 night dinner bed and breakfast package directly with the Chateau for our 20th wedding anniversary. From the outset the experience was fantastic. Even before we arrived they got in touch for our preferences and dinner bookings. When we arrived at the hotel we were surprised by a gift of complementary champagne for our anniversary. The room was great, spacious and comfy with plenty of freebies including delicious macarons. Dinner was great both nights and the breakfast each morning was relaxed and plentiful. We also had a massage whilst we were there in the health club and would thoroughly recommend it. Overall a fantastic way to celebrate a special occasion. We would highly recommend this hotel for a romantic break away in the Chantilly area (and Paris is only 25 minutes away by train too).

We stayed here with family of 4. room looks to be new - in the concrete part of the hotel. in the night we found ants in the room and tried to remove them - spend 2 hours! when we woke up the whole room was covered in ants - walking over the walls , in bed , on the floor - absolute hell! Reception made aware - reaction was : Ok, we will clean. (absolute unacceptable) The hotel looks like a beautifull chateau but in fact most rooms are just in a concrete side building - room looks nice and new but is not what we expected for 300 euros. (1 night , no breakfast) no charging points for electrical cars - you can use the normal plug situated at the disabled parking but takes 48 hours to charge. We havent eaten or had any drinks in the hotel as this was not of interest to us.

The chateau itself looks good and probably worth looking at during the day but that's where it stops. They say it's a 4 star hotel but the room looked like a maid room, we were put in the attic stating that it was standard Chateau class but when you look at the pictures the rooms don't look like this at all. I understand that you don't always get the same room that you saw on the photos but it was such low standard. there is only one soap for shampoo and body wash and no conditioner which should be included in a 4 star hotel when you pay $320 for a night. We overpaid and they couldn't change us room because they had no other chateau room only the small rooms that were added next to the chateau. When we asked for compensation, we were welcomed with the manager tellling us that the director told them not to give us anything for the disagreement. Really disappointing, I would not recommend this place given that there are many other nice places around for way cheaper. Plus don't take the horseback riding package because you'll end up paying more than you should.

The Château de Montvillargenne is a large, and quite nice chateau. Our room was was very nice and the bathroom was excellent, appearing to be recently renovated. Only some 45 minutes drive from Paris, it provides a classy alternative to staying in congested central Paris.

I would not go there for the following reasons: - Lack of hygiene in the room, bathroom, facilities - Bugs in towels - Misrepresentation of the pictures - Restaurant for dining is really bad - Service is lacking and rude - They claim to have charging facilities for electric car, but there aren't. Just one regular socket on a regular parking lot which is regularly occupied.
