Gouves Hotels with Gym

I visited for one week at the end of September with my mother. We were looking for a relaxing break with a few activities so Amirandes looked ideal. Positives: The hotel and room were spotless. Each morning there were people out washing the exterior of the hotel and our room was cleaned when we went out for breakfast. The range of activities is great. I did yoga (or paddle board yoga) every morning and aqua-aerobics at midday. The gym was small, but good for a quick workout before dinner and the indoor pool was very quiet and calm. The quality and range of cocktails is good and the main bar provides a very chilled place to sit. We found service at the beach and the main pool very quick and the the staff were friendly. We found it clear from the menus what wasn't included in the Comfort Package and didn't need to buy any extras all week. Areas to improve: The speed of which you're served drinks at the main buffet restaurant is dependent on how busy it is and where you're sat. A couple of times I had to get up and go in search of a waiter. They also didn't have some of the CP wines available that were on the menu. The main buffet restaurant is not set up to deal with evening peaks. One evening we arrived at 8pm and the buffet area was very crowded, people were getting snappy with staff (who were also exasperated and losing their manners), and food options were running out and being swapped with less exciting alternatives. We went to dinner early or late to avoid this. Wi-fi is patchy across the hotel, we struggled to get any in our room. Sound proofing in the corridors is poor and we were disturbed at night by the sounds of people coming back to their rooms. The front two rows of beds on the beach are reserved for the villas which was disappointing. I feel that even just a couple should be set aside for others. Sometimes I sat on a beach towel so I could be near the water. Finally, not something that's impacted my rating, but worth flagging... This hotel is very popular with parents of young children and at times the crying/screaming disrupted our experience. I had a wonderful week, but would look for a Grecotel with adult-only areas next time rather than returning to Amirandes.

A nice 3 days with a lot of food!!! All the workers are kind and helpful, especially the boys at the pool bar.
