Absolutely LOVED! this place. Perfect birthday night get away. Amazing decor, superior finish and super comfy bed (most grateful for our unexpected upgrade in room). Slightly out of the way but perfect for our needs as a luxury birthday night hottub getaway on a weekend walking. Room was gorgeous, super clean, just perfect. Thank you Faith and Steve xx

Wow, this place is immaculate, clean and very stylish. Room so comfortable they have thought of everything. The breakfast was fantastic quality. First time in this area of lakes scenery beautiful. Will definitely return to this accommodation and area.

This location is away from the busy part of the Lake District and as a result is much quieter at all times of the year. We stayed in ‘Collie’ for several nights and the facilities were excellent including a comfortable bed. Breakfasts were top class and the staff were very attentive. The cold buffet is excellent and in addition a cooked breakfast is made to the individual’s taste. Be sure to book your main meals in advance wherever you are going to visit as there are few restaurants in the location. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

1692 really is a delight. We stayed for 3 days in September as part of our 25th Wedding Anniversary trip and wished we were staying longer. Really significant thought and care provide rooms that are classy, efficient and calming yet have enough detail in them to feel like a home-from-home. Everything in our room worked as you’d hope it would including very comfortable bed and bedding, walk in rain shower and freestanding bath on the mezzanine, good WIFI, simple to use TV and heat control system, patio doors, and a choice of teas, coffee and biscuits. The infrastructure is matched by the care, help and kindness shown to guests. Advice on what to do is offered but not pushed, afternoon cake (delicious of course), wide choice of locally sourced breakfasts that’s sufficient to set you up for the rest of the day with a staggered sitting so that there are not too many guests in the breakfast area at once. This with communal books including guides to the Lakes, and a lovely lounge-barn room with plush sofas and a wide range of drinks (via honesty box) to enjoy in the evening - or at any time you like. The whole of 1692 is immaculately clean and well ordered. As a bonus reclining in the sun (!) on the patio outside our room we were entertained by the exceptionally nosey Alpaca/Llamas who peek into your room if they can. Whatever their species, the camelids enjoy inspecting and speculating about the guests. Thanks Faith and Team we had a fantastic stay and will be back – especially as I now know the compass direction to Gillgrass House!
