Great hotel, but not really for a vegetarian and certainly not for vegans. We are staying here for a week with our family in a junior suite and other family members in other rooms. So first the food. We have half board. Every evening there is a buffet, usually loosely based on the cuisine of a certain country. Sometimes (for example on the Greek evening) there is relatively much to choose from for a vegetarian, other evenings practically nothing. There is a vegetarian main course every evening and a very limited salad bar. For other courses, no consideration is given to vegetarians. There is also no vegetarian lunch available other than a “mixed salad”. Out of date. Quality of the food generally ok. Breakfast reasonably good, but no real juice, only lemonade. No whole wheat bread. Drinks are included with breakfast, they have to be paid for in the evening. That is apparently the business model. Because everything is done on paper and our group is divided over three rooms, it is a challenge every evening to get all the receipts right. There is a small fridge in the room, but no kettle for a cup of tea. Once the bar is closed, you can't get anything to drink. Then the room. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the junior suite. A large living room with a sitting area and on the other side a TV and a separate bedroom with two single beds. Very small bathroom for four people and no sink in the toilet (!) The always cold shower causes points to be deducted. Also a pity that there is no place to dry your wet stuff. No clothesline above the bath, no drying rack. Furthermore: Parking lot very far away if you are lugging your ski gear. Ski room good. Sauna and small swimming pool are fine (you can take a hot shower there). Good fitness room, depressing children's playroom. There is a pool table and a football table. Reasonably cozy bar to play cards with the family. Again, hassle with the receipts per room. Did not use the massages. One small elevator is not enough if housekeeping also uses it. Often have to walk up and down eight flights of stairs. Other family members were offered a welcome drink, we were not. A bit random.

New renovated rooms are nice, the old rooms are showing their age but were clean. We were lucky and got a new room, it was clean and big, the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately we didn't like the food, all meals were buffet style, we weren't hungry but the food was dried out, cold, meat was hard, just mass processing. The set up of the buffet was also confusing, first dressings, then plates and then salads, all without any specialist knowledge. The whole hotel is extremely over decorated, even more tasteless. The garden looks exactly like that, unkempt, with crooked flower pots and stones in the grass, strange cheap figures on the terrace. Everything is crammed with empty bottles, cheap artificial flowers, autumn, spring, Christmas decorations, all a colorful mix. The hotel is very winding, spa and pool small. Fitness room is equipped with lots of equipment, just as good children's corner with toys. It definitely gets a point for the location. Our conclusion: we would have preferred more quality rather than quantity.

Unfortunately, some of the staff were a bit rude and seemed overwhelmed. Many of the employees couldn't speak German and hardly knew their way around. The sauna area is unfortunately very winding and not separated from the children playing. We went to the sauna in the evening (which closes at 7 p.m.). Since we didn't have a watch with us (and it was already shortly after 7 p.m.), we were thrown out of the sauna very rudely. There are nicer things than being reprimanded naked by a dressed employee. Unfortunately, we were assigned a small table that was in the part of the dining room without a window and therefore felt rather oppressive. The breakfast buffet wasn't really refilled after 9:15 a.m., even though it went until 10 a.m. The room was very spacious and nice, and the balcony was also quite nice.

This was our third time as a guest at the Vitalhotel. You can tell that something is always happening and the hotel is being renovated. The staff are very friendly, everything is clean and in order. There are plenty of parking spaces, but even these are becoming too few and when you come back in the evening you may have to park by the football pitch. There was no childcare (probably because of Covid). The playroom, however, should also be completely renovated, as there are now a number of sources of danger: various dangling cables, various corners (including the heater and the switch box on the right-hand side - you can fall stupidly while playing and hit your head on the corner of the heater). The glass door is extremely dangerous. A child pinched his finger here, in the back part near the gap in the door. Unfortunately, apart from balls, there is nothing for the little ones to play with, as everything was locked away. My wife got a slate on the toilet door in the basement when she held the door open. The reception staff were friendly but couldn't find a plaster on the spot...and unfortunately they couldn't think of a small "apology" like a small piece of disinfectant :-) It's clear that nobody can do anything about it...but it would have been a nice gesture from the host...we wanted to see the nearest doctor ourselves (who we also had to research ourselves) but unfortunately he was on vacation... Unfortunately the water in the pool is still just as cold (like in previous years) and you can't stand it for long, so we went to the indoor pool in Gosau again. Otherwise it was as comfortable as usual and we're already looking forward to the next time and are excited to see what has changed!
