I booked a table for eight people in the restaurant two months ago for my 60th birthday next week and have just been cancelled to accommodate a larger party. I booked well in advance because it's difficult to book a table for that number of people at this time of year and it's now too late for me to arrange another booking at a restaurant of my choice. Very disappointing indeed.

Goring is charming village and The Miller of Mansfiled as the classic “olde world” decor, along with the nods to George Michael (a famous former local), clearly add some unique character to the place. However, the service could have been a bit more attentive, as forgetting simple details like a teaspoon for tea might leave a less polished impression, especially with three staff on duty. The lack of dedicated parking could be a drawback for some visitors, as it relies on either finding a roadside spot or using a nearby pay-and-display car park. But for those who don’t mind a short walk, the picturesque village setting and the history of the pub may still make it worth a visit. Overall, it seems like a spot with lots of potential charm but where attention to detail could elevate the guest experience a bit more.

Had a very pleasant stay here, it's a beautiful old building and my room was quiet and comfortable, everything worked fine and good to have fresh milk in a fridge on the landing. An excellent freshly cooked full English was included in the room price but no cereals or fruit etc were offered which seemed slightly mean. You get a 12% discount if you book on their own website which undercut all other online sites. The hotel does not serve food on Sunday evenings but there are several alternatives close by. Goring is a delightful peaceful little town/village right on the Thames. The rail station is just a few minutes walk from the hotel and has trains every 30 mins to Reading, Didcot and Paddington so a great base if you are not driving.

We booked a Superior room and we thought it would be …. superior. Sadly not. The bed was hard, lumpy, very creaky and extremely uncomfortable, both curtains were badly torn, the cold tap in the bathroom was just a trickle and to cap it all the only place to plug in the kettle was on the floor in front of the bathroom door. Breakfast was very good however. The pub itself is lovely but it definitely needs a bit of tlc.

Around ten years ago i visited here several times and gradually it seemed to get more expensive and not so good so was reluctant to return but my friends were keen. So much better than I remember, good menu, excellent service (from Rosie) and really good food. Most unusually my friend’s medium rare steak turned up exactly medium rare. Liked everything here will definitively go back

I booked a room in The Miller of Mansfield because on my tour thru the UK i visited the houses of George Michael. And this pub is very closeby. Sadly although the pub is beautiful and they honor George the staff was not friendly at all. I loved the room even if it was small and i had to get rid of spiders.

Let’s start with the positive. Very good staff. Friendly, helpful, pleasant, attentive. Food. Burger which although I’ve had better was still pretty good for the price. Great choice of beer on tap. Room. Large double bed, and as 6ft 6, this was a big plus. Room very well set out, furnished etc. very good nights sleep. Now the not so good. Parking. I grabbed the last slot out front on the street but didn’t appear there was anything else. So may have been a real problem. Shower, or should I say sit down bath. Might be great for some, but I was on business and I want a hot shower when I’ve finished travelling, not a sit down bath with a hand held shower head. My wake up shower in the morning was predictably difficult and not an adequate replacement. I understand there are rooms with showers so if this is what you want as a “must have” best to check. The only other room they could offer was a small double. I wouldn’t even be that upbeat about the size . Tiny room, with very limited head room space as it was in eves of the building. Big disaster if I got that one given to me. Lovely spot right by the Thames, so ideal for tourists but for business people I would not recommend.

Held my Dad's wake there and the team were great- excellent catering, good beers and a warm and friendly atmosphere aided by the George Michael piano helped to give him a great send off. Steve and his team were excellent and took the time to respond to our requirements. Would definitely recommend them to anyone.
