Amber Springs Hotel

I was really looking forward to staying at amber springs with my young family due to the amenities advertised and pictures o. Galley as well as 4 star rating. When we got the hotel it was extremely busy and seemed a little disorganised with a lot of ppl hanging around the hotel lobby. On check in we were asked to pay for room in full ( that should have been a warning sign in hindsight as usually any 4 star and above hotels I have stayed at you pay on check out once happy with room and incase of any charging to the room) When we got to the room I was pleased at the size of the room however on closer inspection the carpets were dirty and stained and also the bathroom was quite honestly so incredibly dirty I wouldn’t even use the bathing facilities for myself or my children. There was a massive big brown stain in the bottom of the bath. Also there wasn’t even soap provided and we had to go out and buy some. Not what you expect from a 4 star hotel. Due to the uncleanliness of the room we didn’t even attempt to go near the swimming facility’s as I’m sure they would have been similar state. The first night we ate at the BBG restaurant, the food was greasy, felt like it had been sat under a heat lamp and tbh I’m not even sure tbe meat in my pasta dish was real meat. That night my daughter was violently ill, and the next day all of us were running to the bathroom with bad belly’s. We woke in the morning early and we left hotel all day until early evening when we went back only to sleep. As to be completely honest the entire hotel at the stage gave me the ick. The previous night we did take a walk outside to check the facilities but all we found were unsupervised kids/ pre teens all hanging out everywere with there parents” no were to be seen and when they did arrive they were well intoxicated. We won’t be back. I am incredibly displeased. Keep your money and don’t stay in this hotel. It is 1000% not a 4 star establishment. And is full of people who are away on the drink and want to let their kids run loose. The food was terrible and we were all sick from it. Not what you want when spending 600 euro.

So amazing for kids and all the staff are so great with them, for us in particular Rahul the restaurant was our server both nights and he was so helpful and attentive. He just made a lovely effort with kids. This was the first year we stayed for 3 nights and we honestly wished we were staying longer it was just the best. Kids are entertained morning to night! Would recommend to any family. 😊

Not sure if it should be a four star hotel after seeing the sign at the breakfast door having to ask guests to not wear pj's to breakfast...never stayed in a hotel where the guests had to be told to get dressed . The lobby and grounds are all very nice and the room was very clean but our sink was badly cracked, also the plates and condiments at the restaurant and breakfast were chipped and cracked. We were disappointed with the first mornings breakfast as the fruit was sour as it must have been left over from the previous day, the orange juice was like a diluted orange drink. Yet the next morning it was all lovely. In the restaurant two of us ordered steaks both asked for medium but one was over done and one was fine. The pepper sauce came in nasty plastic pots which is an unnecessary waste of plastic. They charge for everything and ask for deposits for even the table tennis ball. Our last trip was to Sligo Park Hotel where for the same rates the children were given complimentary ice cream and free drink and popcorn or crisps at the film and all the hotel sports equipment was handed out free of charge Most disappointing was lack of a family changing room , my husband brought my daughters to the pool but could only bring them to change in the men's changing room. In a large family hotel surely there could a room allocated to families changing.
