Jolly Swagman Motor Inn

We recently did a Caseys tour to Tamworth and stayed at the Jolly Swagman en route. This is a lovely family run motel which had recently been taken over. The owners have more improvements in mind as they settle in. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with plenty of room for your suitcases etc. Lots of clean towels. Tea and coffee making facilities (always appreciated). The restaurant is excellent and the food was delicious. We were quite a big party (32 people) and we had plenty of delicious options to choose from. One of the lads behind the bar said that his mum was a good cook - he was right!! There is a nice, clean pool to take a dip after a long day travelling! We would not hesitate to recommend the Jolly Swagman and hope to stay there again at some point!

Stayed here as we were stuck in town due to a car breakdown. The room was not bad, although a bit dated. The restaurant was shut down at the time so can't review that. The pool was pretty decent, although the little alcove to sit in was home to birds and spiders so could do with some maintenance. The major issue we had with the place was that we paid for the deluxe executive room which was meant to include a self contained kitchen and spa bath. The kitchen had no extraction fan or utilities for cooking. When we asked about it, we were told it was under construction and we had to use the camp kitchen (which was like an old scout hall kitchen). Later we tried to have a spa so filled it up. We found that the pump wasn't working. When we phoned reception about it, they said 'it must be one of the rooms that doesn't work. We're renovating soon so don't think it's worth fixing it'. When we checked out, I mentioned that we paid for the deluxe executive room but those features weren't usable so we should have been charged only for a standard room. The manager just shrugged and said, 'what do you want me to do about it?' He then just walked off, saying he'd let the owners know. Ib let it go but was very surprised by the unprofessional response. Since we were still dealing with our broken down car, we were stressed enough so I didn't really follow it up. We ended up moving on to the nicer Border Motel, who were fantastic and were very sympathetic to our travel ssues.

Our stay here was not as good as we expected. We arrived on a hot day, room is tired with many fittings broken, AC is very poor. Restaurant closed until further notice, as it was nearly 2 years ago last time we stayed. Staff are friendly on phone, but not welcoming on arrival. Outside, pool is clean. But it is pet friendly.

The Jolly Swagman is conveniently located in Goondiwindi for travelers in southern Queensland. The motel was quiet but the rooms are looking tired and in need of some updating. The room we stayed in would benefit from a deep clean. We were disappointed to find that the onsite restaurant was closed until further notice

Travelling with pets over long distances always comes with its problems. Trying to find a pet friendly motel is one. We stayed at the Jolly Swagman in Goondiwindi with our dog. An ideal location just off the highway, and opposite a park, for a walk. Les is a friendly host, and provides a well maintained establishment. The rooms are clean and well equipped, the bed very comfortable and a good choice of pillows. (Very important!!). Unfortunately, being a Sunday, the restaurant was closed.

Travelling with fur baby, this motel ticked all the boxes. Country style motel. Quiet, on edge of town but with direct access down Marshall street to shops. Wi-Fi. Very clean. Comfy beds and a variety of pillows. Pool, mini tennis court & nice little 'smokers' garden. Ordered room service dinner both nights of stay - really good quality food - country sized portions. My only negative comment is that the garden needs a **** - but hey! the gardener is probably comming next week! Manager and staff a delight. My third stay with Jolly Swagman. When next in Goondiwindi, I'll stay again. Thank you for a lovley stay and lots of laughs together.
