Me and partner was supposed to stay in the Grange Lodge on Bradford St but once we eventually found the premises we were redirected at or room was taken. Gomersal lodge was no better. The only thing that was appealing was the grounds Gomersal stood on - acres of land surrounding the run down bulid which was in need of a lot of TLC. The room was tight with no wardrobe space and bathroom smelt of urine. BEDDING WAS STAINED WITH BLOOD AND MATTERESS WAS DIRTY!! Note: when leaving premises for the night it is difficult to get back in as gates close early.

Unfortunately the room smelled of tobacco found It hard to sleep because of this. No one on reception no bar or coffee in lounge. I would have paid extra to have a room that didn’t Smell . Only one pillow on bed that was not that comfortable. Would not recommend this hotel .

Horrid, first room they walked me to, the bed had been slept in and there was food on the dresser, when I pointed this out they moved me to another room, even worse! Cold, damp, drafts through every part of the window to the point the curtains were hovering a foot from the window, brown stained, unfitted carpet with rips in, toilet seat hanging off, shower leeking out of the main unit, and no heating, absolutely freezing, I was there a week and didn't sleep properly once, if it wasn't the cold and waking up shivering, it was the floodlights outside going on and off all night. Then there was the day I couldn't get out of the grounds, the gates were shut. I called all of the emergency numbers listed at the entrance and got no answer from any of them, God forbid there wasn't an actual emergency. I found a mobile number which I called. So sorry sir give me 2 mins. 5 mins later no sign called again, yes yes so sorry sire give me 5 mins. 10 mins later same again, at 25 mins waiting at the end of the drive way I called again. This time to be told, I can be there in 15 mins. Made me late for an exam I was supposed to be sitting. When I asked to speak to management later that day, the lovely lady on the front desk had no idea who they where. She had no idea who I could speak to. There were a couple sat in the foyer who over heard my obviously annoyed questioning. And the lady turned to him and explained, "this is the gentlman who couldn't get out this morning. He looked me up and down and decreed, it won't happen again then continued to brows his mobile. The lady at the counter the asked" do you think we should give him a bottle of wine as compensation" to which he looked up from his phone and said if you really think we shoud" Discussting! to her credit, she replied yeah, yeah I really think we should. I was supposed to return for a second week butt refused to. There are better places to stay in cleck Heaton or close by, don't go here, it's drab dirty cold and needs a revamp, that and some of the staff are rude.

By far the worst place I’ve ever visited, rude staff, disgusting room, people trying to access our room through the night, loud Asian weddings all weekend with cars revving and people screaming and shouting. These people only care about getting your money, they won’t reply to your messages or booking.cons messages and you certainly won’t get your money back.

After the stay I had, I'll admit I was a little amused to receive a cheeful automated reply asking me to leave a review! I hope this write-up is useful for anyone else reading the very mixed reports here and wondering what to make of the place. I visited Cleckheaton for a family party, and booked at Gomersal Lodge for two key reasons: it was the nearest walkable place to the venue, and it was extremely cheap. I was a little concerned by some of the reviews, but figured, well, how bad can it be for a night? And my experience certainly wasn't as egregious as others report here, for which I'm grateful. However, it wasn't good, either. The key issues: - There was some kind of issue with room bookings, which I'll admit I still don't truly understand. I'd booked my room online; a family member had also booked two further rooms online. So: three of us, each expecting their own room. For reasons that are beyond me, when we arrived there were only two rooms available. Booking errors do happen, but I did feel that the first male staff member to whom we spoke wasn't quite taking the issue as seriously as we might like, and it was only when a second gentleman appeared that we managed to get somewhere. - We agreed that my two older family members would take the rooms that were available at the time, and a room would be sorted for me later. (I figured that if it wasn't I could at least sleep in my car – not an ideal fall-back, but I really wasn't desperately confident at this point.) We also agreed I'd take a quick shower in one of the available rooms. That room had about eight or ten flies busy buzzing around the light fitting, which really was quite unpleasant. In fairness, the staff responded with appropriate concern. - As I was leaving to walk down to Cleckheaton, there appeared to be some kind of issue with the key to one of the other rooms. There seemed to be a defensive sense of "it'll all be OK, you just have to trust us here" from the senior staff, and when you're several hundred miles away from home and wishing you'd paid an extra £20 for the Premier Inn up the road, that isn't really what you want to hear. I was very glad to be travelling on my own, and not feeling any sense of responsibility to or for anyone else. I did get a room when I returned later – although I was told there wasn't a key for it – and it was pleasant enough. The bed was very comfortable, though the room itself (as so many others have noted in their reviews) had seen better days: the bathroom in particular was extremely tired, and the shower was borderline useless. I was irritated by the fact that the respective shapes of the kettle and the sink made it very, very difficult to fill the kettle and make a coffee in the morning. When I left, about 9:30am, I couldn't see any sign of any staff anywhere – the whole place seemed disconcertingly empty. I do appreciate that they make clear that the hotel isn't permanently staffed, but it was still a little unsettling. Would I stay

Most traumatic experience we have ever had staying at a hotel .a member of staff opened our door while we were sleeping at 1am with no explanation of why .we felt so unsafe that we left the property at 1am .and slept at services in the car .we have had no apology or explanation as to why a member of staff would enter our room while we are asleep .We cannot get hold of anyone at the hotel to receive a refund .steer clear it's not an a experience I would like to repeat .

This is my 3rd stay at Gomersal Lodge as I come to Cleckheaton annually to take part in the Jo Cox Way bike ride to London. All the ghastly reviews do not do this place justice. I am reviewing purely as a room for the night, not as a wedding venue.i do not eat here, as no evening meal nor breakfast are available for hotel guests. The hotel is set in lovely grounds, is clean and simple and the beds are comfortable. It's very reasonably priced and I've always found the staff (Naz and Neesa) to be very polite and helpful. This is not the Ritz, but it's homely and comfortable and peaceful and I always get a great night's sleep.

On arrival, closed reception. Porter told me it was full, despite pre paid booking. Had to follow the porter in a car, in the dark, to what can only be described as some sort of outbuilding/drug den with no parking or outside lighting. Had to park car on a dark terraced side street. The room was stained beyond belief, next to a busy, noisy road with badly fitting sash windows. There was no working shower. No breakfast available. No refund offered. Please stay away. A traumatising experience.
