I was given two tokens as a Birthday present and went for tea with a friend. Do NOT book Afternoon Tea on a Monday. The venue is very nice and the staff pleasant BUT the ‘Tea’ was extremely disappointing albeit what were served looked the same as in the photograph on the paperwork. The 6 sandwiches (3 each) made of cut white bread, were very cold and seemingly served straight from the fridge. Smoked salmon with a lashing of horseradish sauce was a first. So too were the extremely small plain scones (1 each) that had been toasted!! I had to ask for jam to accompany the generous bowl of cream. The ‘two ‘eclairs’ were made of very hard pastry and tasted very stale too. We asked for a second pot of tea and I asked for less water as the first had been very weak - frankly I think they merely added hot water and no second tea bag. Had I not been with a friend I would have complained but I did make my disappointment clear. A great pity as the waiting staff were attentive and not responsible for what was served. The venue is very nice but …

A lovely sunny evening but sat inside because outside is unappealing. The food was very disappointing. Chicken cold, lamb inedible. Service was average but the food took an inordinate amount of time to arrive even though it was very quiet. Won’t go back.

The setting is very pleasant but the meal of steak frites was inedible. The meat was so tough I needed to saw through it to cut it and then chewing each piece took several minutes at a time. When I commented on it having paid the bill all I got was ‘that’s how we get the cut from our supplier’. No mention of sorry or offer of any form of compensation.

Not our first visit, but everything is outstanding. Food is excellent and the 50% off main courses makes it even more enjoyable. Service was excellent and friendly. The Bloody Mary prawn cocktail was outstanding and the sticky toffee pudding was to die for. Wine is a bit pricey, but there is a reasonably priced “house wine”

A huge Thank You especially to Matt....and of course all the team. Our experience from the beginning was exceptional... So, we arranged a family lunch get together for 20 of us and from making the booking which was easy to do and we were allocated outside space for our exclusive use meaning we had our own private space to eat in and use which was fantastic especially for the children to plsy together. The menu options offered a good selection for everyone including young diners, vegetarian and vegan. Matt was a superb host from the moment we arrived when he checked our orders and that was everything was OK to ensuring all the meals were served quickly and professionally which we appreciated and all of the food was Delicious! This is the perfect place to go whether as a couple or meeting a group of friends / family and we can't wait to return, soon hopefully.

Had lunch with family - all adults on the 27th of December 2024. The menu was very limited. We didn't bother with starters as there was very little choice. However, my wife decided to have the "Bang bang Cauliflower" which was listed as a starter plus a portion of chips. Only 4 small pieces of cauliflower arrived and a small portion of chips. I decided, along with another family member, to have the "Smoked Haddock with potato and sauce etc" The dishes arrived, very hot, but only about 7 inches in diameter and the depth of the food was between a quarter and half an inch at most. I do not consider this to be an appropriate quantity for a full grown adult. I would estimate that the dish comprised of 15% haddock, at most, the remainder being 70% potato and then sauce. Very disappointing especially at a cost of £18.95 plus 10% service charge. The remaining members of the family had beef burger and chips, again appeared to be small portions in my opinion. We all decided that, due to the lack of choice on the menu, that we would not have any sweet. Two of our party had a tasteless mocha and cappuccino. Although I consider this to be a poor experience i did not feel comfortable complaining as it was a family gathering and didn't want to disrupt an otherwise enjoyable event. I have eaten at this establishment a few times in the past but this was my worst experience and would be very unlikely to eat there again in the foreseeable future even though it is local to my home.

We stayed overnight on a weekday on a dinner, bed and breakfast offer from the venue's website. It was absolutely excellent: the welcome was friendly and check-in fast, our room was fabulous (immaculately clean and with great linen and an oh so comfortable mattress), we enjoyed dinner on the festive menu (and the wine selection was impressive while still affordable) - and breakfast was incredible. We'd selected the full English but there was also a buffet to help ourselves from, including fresh fruit, juices, cereal, fresh pasties, and the most delicious yoghurts. We had simply needed a place to stay to break a journey - and it turned into a glorious break in itself! Our thanks to all the people it made this so!

The restaurant was very clean and tidy. There was a lovely cold fire and it was very cosy. The staff were very polite and helpful.. we both had a roast lamb Sunday dinner which in general was very nice the only sad part I have for the price of the meal it was just a child portion and certainly wasn’t value for money..
