Facts only. 1. On arrival at 1.00 we were advised that they needed the table back at 2.15. An hour and fifteen for 3 courses. Bad start. 2. Mould on the bread served with the prawn cocktail. Disgusting. 3. Apology and deduction for prawn cocktail accepted, butot deducted upon checking. Not good. 4. Nut roast ordered, but told it wasn't available. Later table given nut roast. Sadly, expected by then. Poor.

-: to be missed, on arrival our pre booked table was unavailable, after 25mins a place was found in the bar & not the dining room, shown to an unclean table, after another 20 mins we were able to order our meal, the starter arrived quickly but alas the prawn cocktail was missing the rose marie sauce, another 25mins for the main course to arrive on cold plates minus cauliflower cheese, horseradish sauce for the beef & apple sauce for the pork, none of which ever showed up, the stuffing could have been used as a cannon ball it was so solid plus the cutlery was dirty, we had the feeling that this was a cobbled together meal just an after thought, we actually felt sorry for the young waitress as she was apologising to quite a few diners.

Have always had amazing food here, so booked high tea for my birthday celebration with friends. Really disappointed. Basic sandwiches, ham & tomato/cheese & onion which took about half an hour to come out of kitchen after frozen cakes which were soggy. Staff were lovely, however we were told all chefs had left in last few weeks & managers were in the kitchen. Not great when paying £22 per person. Left very disappointed as booking was made over 3 weeks in advance. Won't be returning sadly as waiting staff are lovely & a beautiful setting.

Have been regulars since finding this hidden gem and the food has always been outstanding. But today was the worst ever. Waiting over an hour just for starters, ( only one cook on during bank holiday weekend 😞). When the food arrived it was cold and unfortunately that was enough for us and we left. Very disappointed as we travel a long way as we know the food is normally excellent. Won't be in a rush to come back unfortunately. The only positive today was the lovely young lady server so polite and friendly despite being on her own and was obviously stressed by an issue that was out of her control.

We have been going to Afan for some years and something has changed. The room was clean and lovely as always, you can’t beat the view. Sadly, when we arrived the carpark was scattered with torn bin bags and the rubbish was everywhere. It was disgusting and not very welcoming. The food service was slow, waiting for over an hour to eat with very few people in the restaurant. This happened both breakfast and dinner. On our second morning, we ordered a veggie breakfast (the only veggie option) to be told they had run out of veggie sausages and that they would “chuck” on another hash brown instead. We waited almost an hour for the breakfast to be served, only to be served a plate with broccoli on it instead of hashbrowns, as they had also run out of them. The breakfast was refused and a very disappointing apology was offered, by a gentleman who misgendered us both!!!! When checking out, we were not offered any itemised receipt, simply charged the card on file. Who knows if this is correct or not as we had nothing shown to us. Again still no apology about breakfast. The breakfast bowls were dirty and had bits on them, the glasses were not clean and we had to ask for glasses for drinks, only to be asked “what glasses” by the young girl on service. To use the E-bike charging stations in the cellar, you are charged £5 per station and £20 deposit per key. This is returned to you upon checkout/key return. I didn’t realise until I had returned home that the guy behind the bar had only refunded £20 instead of £40…I wonder how many others they forget. Sadly this will be the last time we stay, things have changed and the staff members do not seem switched on at all.

Something has changed here, food okay, waitress while pleasant didn’t have any idea what the fish in batter was, third attempt she did get it right. A male who was part of the team walked through a few times, no acknowledgment to customers, just interested in feeding his face between the bar and kitchen, customer service and professionalism lacking on this visit! Come on you always used to be better than this??

On our two visits to this restaurant we could not fault a singe thing.Food delicious service great, nice quiet atmosphere dining. We will definitely be back when in the area. PS for new customers it would be helpful to have a sign to show you that the restaurant is actually at the rear of the property.

We had a family lunch before going on holiday. Such a peaceful, tranquil location in the Afan Valley. Very tastefully decorated and friendly atmosphere. I had ‘catch of the dsy’ which was salmon … absolutely delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful … bringing small plastic cuttlery and colouring pencils for a 3yr old that was in our party. Will definitely be returning!! Diolch yn fawr.
