This is a review of a meal in the Glenfinnan House Hotel restaurant / dining room Thursday 20th June 2024. I felt extremely ripped off by the dinner here. As a vegetarian, I had "Roasted Cauliflower Steak, Granny Smith Apple, Burnt Apple Puree, Sweet Raisin Sauce - £22.00". This consisted of one very badly-cooked (crunchy), thin 'steak' of cauliflower (about 5p-worth I would estimate) plus some small bits as trimmings, and a small amount of sauce. No sides included, no bread offered. The poorest, least satisfying, worst-value meal I've ever had. Also, oddly, the exact same glass of red wine cost a few pounds less in the restaurant than the same glass bought in the bar, so be wary of this. My impression was: atmospheric, super-Scottish, but a tourist rip-off. Tip: The Australian bar staff shipped in for the summer will try to sell doubles of everything so be careful.
