If you've ever wanted the opportunity to do nothing but quilt while lovely people attend to your every need and prepare wonderful meals and snacks for you, Pat's Artists Rising Retreats are for you. Pat's historic Connecticut River Valley Inn has been lovingly restored and updated. The accommodations are splendid, spacious, and quiet. The gardens are amazing and the workshop space looks out over the grounds. The food is delicious. Pat and Teri are charming and accommodating. Every single thing is perfect. Pat and her staff prepare three meals a day for attendees and the food was consistently wonderful. At my retreat, there was one vegetarian, one person gluten-free, one person dairy-free and one person who doesn't eat onions. Pat fed us all, kept it straight, and was good-natured about our group of fussy eaters. It was remarkable. Sue Benner is one of the most admired, respected, and collected textile artists in the world. It turns out that she is also a smart, supportive, creative, adaptable, hard-working, generous, and level-headed teacher. Sue shared her techniques, creative processes, ideas, hacks, wisdom and humor for five days. we learned from watching her work as well as from her prepared materials and daily slide shows. I feel lucky for the opportunity to study with her. The Sue Benner workshop at Pat's Artists Rising retreats in Connecticut is a five-star event. I would go back in a heartbeat.
