Inconvenient location and nice staff The staff are quite friendly and nice. The location is... a bit hard to say. If you are a nature lover, u probably enjoy the walk in the neighborhood. There're hills and nice houses nearby. Around 5 min walk from the hotel, there's a nice track called Strathblane Railway Path. But if you want to get to the city centre, and you can't drive, you can only get there by a bus which is 50 min ride (note that it's 1 to 2 hour frequency). I waited for the bus at the buschanan bus station on Saturday at 7pm (it's scheduled at 7:10pm) and the bus went missing. I asked staff at the bus station and they told me to find the help desk but it was closed and the hotline was also shut down. I waited for the next bus at 8:35pm and luckily it did arrive. So make sure you check the bus schedule if you are going for a tour/taking train in the city centre!!!

Lovely and comfortable stay with nice food in the restaurant. The breakfast was also amazing! One of the best we had on our trip. We stayed for 1 night on the way up to the highlands. The room was spotless and very comfortable. Bar area was nice.

If you stay for a few days you struggle. 11 item menue, 2 burgers n max & cheese on an adult menue! If you don’t like spicy, not much left. How about, fish pie, gammon, mix grill. Not many multi nighters eat in every night. I wonder why? For a hotel, this is not acceptable and indicates that the menue is prepared for the hotels convenience and not the requirements of the guests.

Dirty, dated and not worth the money at all. A welcome smell of food and oil awaits you in the hallway, you enter the dirtiest hotel room with the feature of cobwebs on the walls, disgusting marks on the wall lights next to the bed and dust over the blinds. Two rooms booked, due to be near each other - one at one side of the hotel and one at the other due to a mistake with another booking. Do not stay here or shower on leaving.

We stayed here as part of our wedding anniversary and were not disappointed. Farooq was on hand throughout to make sure everything was good. Our room was lovely, but the tv was faulty, so we were moved (upgraded) to another room which was fabulous! We had booked into their restaurant which is owned by the fantastic Masterchef professional finalist Sagar Massey. I have to say the decor, ambience and 1st rate service by Alison and Thomas was second to none. The food will quite simply BLOW YOU AWAY! Everything about this place was so nice and the surrounding scenery is straight off a postcard. We will definitely be back and tell everyone about this hidden gem.

Had the misfortune to have to attend a funeral tea at Kirkhouse . At least 200 people came back from funeral . You would think be well stocked with alcohol and lager in bar. Ran out of tennents lager , orange juice Hendrix Gin . Come on 🤬 get the bar stocked when you know have a function on

I stayed in room 10 which is a single room for 4 nights. It is located at the back of the establishment by the kitchen and kitchen air vent. There was a continuous strong smell of cooking and stale cooking oil throughout the room and bathroom. You could also hear the noise of the industrial kitchen air vent throughout the day and into the evening, which was loud as by the window. No adequate ventilation in the main room or bathroom. Window in main room did not open. Bathroom window only opened if you put something to wedge it open. As the bathroom is directly at the back by the air vent opening the window meant letting in the cooking smells. The cooking smells stays in your clothing and hair, luggage. It was nauseating. Despite leaving the bathroom window open a few hours in the early morning, this did nothing to rid the room of the stale cooking odours. I complained and was offered a full refund of the cost of the room. Unfortunately I could not find anywhere else to stay. Agreed compensation was free breakfasts during duration of my stay. Seems like the done deal in this establishment. In the bathroom there was not a adequate blind at the window for privacy. This meant that the kitchen staff outback could easily see into the bathroom. I often heard them out back laughing and talking outside. There is no adequate lock on the bathroom window. It would be possible for someone to climb up the slope and into the room through the bathroom window. They played very loud music from the pub downstairs. Unfortunately room 10 is situated above this. It made it impossible to have a relaxing evening with this loud music going on into the evening. Housekeeping on the first day was not good. Only the wet towels were removed, new ones replaced. The full rubbish bin stayed unemptied in the room. The housekeeper even failed to remove an empty toilet roll. Housekeeping after that day was excellent and one could see the physical effects of the room having been cleaned. They have employed lots of younger staff. Who were mostly polite and friendly, a couple needed more training in customer service and communication. The food was tasty and well presented. Though as I could smell the rancid cooking oil smells in the room this put me off as to the actual cleanliness of the kitchen. The room/bathroom was newly renovated. The shower was excellent good water pressure and temperature. There was no adequate bins. Only a small bathroom bin in the main room. Nowhere to hang up your toiletries or to dry your towels in the bathroom. Unsure of the effect of one's health stayed in such an unventilated environment. Breathing in the stale kitchen smells. It was quite frankly nauseating. Perhaps health and safety should be informed about this and assess. I do not plan to stay here again and would not recommend booking a single room if you are a solo traveller. Overall I would not recommend this hotel.

We received a warm, friendly welcome on arrival and had a lovely room with comfortable twin bed (perfect for a restless sleeper and a very quiet sleeper). Breakfast was cooked to order and perfect every time. We were looking forward to a visit to the nearby Glengoyne Distillery which didnt disappoint and from whom the hotel was recommended. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to another stay.

We had a perfect room with comfy twin beds (I'm hot and restless and husband not so). The staff were friendly, helpful and made us very welcome. The hotel's location was perfect for exploration of both countryside and city. There was plenty of choice on the menu both for breakfast and evening meal. A bus service runs hourly from outside the hotel to the nearby Glengoyne Distilliary which was the purpose of our visit and from where we had the hotel recommendation. We will return next year.
