The place was very good. The breakfast was very good. There was a lot of space for four people but the dining table was for 2 people. The helicopter ride was very good and worth it for $300. But the coffee machine was not working. There was no decaf coffee. The view was very good. There wasn’t a AC there was only a heater and a fan.

Mark (pilot of the helicopter ride from the Mica Matanuska Glacier hike) owns Sheep Mountain lodge. They food was great at the restaurant. If you go, safe room for the triple berry desert. They had a hot tub up there which was spot on after a long day hike. Beautiful scenery.

We stayed two nights at one of their premium cabins. The cabin was spacious, clean, and thoughtfully furnished, with warm lighting and cozy furniture that created an inviting atmosphere. We loved the peaceful setting, the comfortable beds, and the beautiful mountain views from both the windows and the front porch.

We stopped here on the way from Anchorage to Valdez to break the long drive into smaller intervals but also to take advantage of the helicopter tour (reviewed separately). The place is cozy, provides excellent food, and although pretty much in the "middle of nowhere" other than the Matanuska Glacier this is a GEM! We went low K on this one as we splurged on the Helicopter tour, by taking the shared bathroom option - we had the room C - it worked out pretty well. We had a similar experience in Iceland but here even the sink was just in the shared main bathroom, so the room is solely the beds, a table + mini fridge - and... a little device that allows you to play various sounds like waves, or crickets chirping :) very relaxing!

Loved this place. Stayed in a premier cabin which is comfortable and spacious. Beautiful views. I’m not sure if the proximity to the road can get busy and a noisy when season is in full swing so you may want to consider the classic cabins up the hill. But didn’t affect us in the least in first few days of June. Restaurant was really good and staff was friendly and attentive. Highly recommended Sheep Mtn Lodge.

I saw the cabins online and they was beautiful but seeing them in person was something else I was floored how nice the cabins are the kitchen is nice the beds are wonderful the heater is very nice when it still cold the staff are very wonderful and nice. And Mark and Ruthann are so nice and understanding and they are great business owners. So celebrities and other people come out to see and stay at sheep mountain lodge summer and winter you will be blessed that you stayed here and experienced the great food and make sure ask about the cinnamon rolls you will be happy how they look and taste omg. And the breath taking views are so beautiful and adorable and awesome 😎

What began as a lighthearted joke between my wife and me—"Let’s just elope somewhere remote, maybe a glacier? LOL!"—turned into a reality, thanks to Mark and the incredible team at Sheep Mountain Lodge! They expertly handled every detail over the eight months leading up to our special day, accommodating our last-minute requests for private dressing rooms (the bride had to keep her dress a surprise!) and even arranging an extra flight. Everything was absolutely perfect! The lodge itself was everything one would expect from a remote Alaskan getaway: comfortable, well-equipped, and just the right amount of rustic charm. Mark was the most remarkable Owner/Host/Wedding Coordinator/Pilot/Officiant/Photographer we could have hoped for! (Yes, he really did all of that!) His right-hand, Mary, also played a crucial part in making our day flawless. Our wedding dinner was phenomenal—the steaks were cooked to perfection, and the desserts were truly delightful! Just when we thought it couldn’t get better, we received our first wedding photos before even landing back in Montana ten days later. It turns out Mark and I both have an eye for great moments: he for photography and me for capturing the beauty of my stunning bride. I imagine many people stop at the lodge for a lunch or dinner when they are driving Glenn Hwy. Everyone should consider staying at least a night or two, as there is a lot to do in the area. Hiking, rafting, glacier tours, flight seeing, etc. Helicopter tours launch right from the property. Other types of flight craft are available nearby. With enough elevation, you can see the Chugach, Talkeetna, Wrangell, and Alaskan Mountain Ranges, all at once. My family of six stayed in the Mountain House for three nights. It was spacious and comfortable, with plenty of hot water for showers after our excursions. We ate dinner at the lodge all three times and enjoyed every meal. We took advantage of the trails on the property and the nearby Old Nelchina Trail. All staff were welcoming and friendly.

We stayed 2 nights at Sheep Mountain Lodge, my hustband, my son and I. We had the best stay. We had a Premium cabin and it was better than we expected, the beds was really comfy and the porch with the chairs was perfect with a beautiful view. The staf was wonderful, easy to talk to and really helpful. The resturant had the best food for morning, lunch and dinner. We went on a helikopter ride with the owner Mark out to Matanuska glacier and it was an experience of a lifetime - we were the only ondes out there and Mark gave us time enough to walk on the glacier and he took pictures of us for memoires. We had the time of our lives, so thank you so much to Mark and his staff. Warm wishes from family Uggerholm Denmark
