I had something to collect in Anderstorp and instead of making the long drive up and then back down in the same day, I decided to take the family and make it a little mini-getaway. Hotell Nissastigen clearly seemed the best choice in the area, and it turned out on the whole to be a very good choice. The first thing I appreciated was the receptionist ringing me on the day of arrival and letting me know that Gislaved were having their 50 year kommun jubilee, and that it could be a little bit noisy. This was no problem for us, but it was nice to been forewarned about it. As the hotel was so central, the carpark was full when we arrived, but after a while managed to find a spot after a bit of faffing around. Unfortunately the charging stations in the carpark were not working, but this was no fault of the hotel. I also appreciated that the back entrance required a code to enter so despite the large crowds of people due to the festival, there was still some access control. Unfortunately the hotels normal restaurant was closed due to the 50år celebration, but they had an outdoor serving with food that was decent but expensive, especially the drinks where a beer cost 75kr .. the same beer I bought the next day at Systemet for 10kr. The room itself was fine albeit quite small. The corridors were dated, but the room had has renovation at some point. There was an "extra" bed under the main bed and extra pillows spread throughout the various cupboards. The bathroom, while nicely re-tiled and modern was small, and the glass doors of the shower made one feel claustrophobic. Sleep quality was so-so. Our room backed onto the carpark, and there were a group of "youths" being loud and obnoxious right outside the window. Not sure if this was just because of the festival. Some reviewers have complained about the hotel breakfast being basic - but we found the breakfast to be superb with decent selection, a blueberry pie to die for and friendly staff. On the topic of the staff, everyone we encountered were friendly and helpful. Special mention goes to the receptionist who (I'm very sorry! ) have forgotten the name, but she was fantastic. Should I ever need to visit the area again, I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it warmly.

The room was very nice, comfortable beds and everything we needed. There were dispensers for shampoo and body wash in the shower. The shower was very small but served its purpose. We had the room with a bunk bed above a king size bed. It was big enough for two 14 year old boys to sleep together up top. The lady at check-in and check-out was very nice as was the lady at the bar. The room came with breakfast and dinner included which was buffet. This is where our stay wasn't so good. Dinner was okay, there were a few cold salads to choose from and then 3 pots of hot food. The first night it was pork ribs, potatoes and a mixed vegetable....it was just okay. The second night was pasta and meat sauce or rice and a brown sauce. My Danish boyfriend was looking forward to breakfast, saying it should be really good if they bragged about it being award winning. He said breakfast is done really well in Scandinavia. We were very disappointed!! Breakfast had a few loaves of bread as well as lunch meats and cheeses. Then there was a pot of tasteless bacon, a pot of eggs that were scrambled but in a puddle of liquid and a pot of oatmeal. You could also get soft boiled eggs that were cold and not soft boiled, yogurt with berries, pancakes, a few choices of fresh fruit and a dried up fruit cobbler. Breakfast was served 7:30-10 and we arrived just before 9am so half way through the time. We ate some bread with lunchmeat and then returned for some pancakes but they were empty and so was the cobbler ever since we arrived. I asked the attendant if there were more coming and she replied in Swedish so I couldn't really understand, but got the point that there were no more. Another lady, who seemed to be in charge, came out and heard me complain to my boyfriend that these items were sold out and she (quite rudely but at least in english) replied that there WAS another cobbler in the oven and there were no more pancakes. She had made 80 and there were no more to be had in the hotel!! So 80 pancakes for an entire hotel of guests. I had to ask for the Nutella, peanut butter and jam that had been out for the pancakes so I could at least smear a bit of that on a piece of bread instead of more lunchmeat, as they had already been put away. They were cleaning up the buffet as quickly as they could and seemed bothered by us. I felt bad for the ones that came after us as it was half cleared. The employees wore shirts that said "Feel Like Home"...I certainly didn't feel at home.

This hotel is located in the center of Gislaved and offers a different experience. Although there is not much going on in the town of Gislaved, there are several amusements at the hotel itself. Here you can play billiards, shuffleboard and even play virtual golf. As a hotelguest you also get a discount on the price. For those staying at the hotel, there is also free coffee to pick up on the second floor. The hotel rooms are small and compact but serve their purpose. We stayed one night so for us it was okey. The beds had Swedish standards and were pleasant to sleep in. The hotelbreakfast that was included in the hotelprice offered a lot of delicacies. It wasn't a breakfast buffet that you left hungry! If you want to have dinner, the hotel also has a restaurant in the same building that offers an evening buffet but also ala carte. The restaurant is called Ströget and the food they served was deliscious! The staff who work at the hotel and in the restaurant was service-minded and attentive to their guests. Outside the hotel, you have parking that is free on weekends, but if you are a hotel guest, you can ask for a note from the hotel reception outside weekends. A night for two people is around 130€

Habitaciones muy sencillas aunque con mucha luz. Céntricas en el pueblo. Parking privado incluido. Desayunos variados y buenos. Cena correcta aunque tal vez tenga una carta muy reducida si vas muchos días. ¿Lo mejor? La zona de ocio que tiene para eventos de empresa con billares, simulador de golf, dardos, shuffleboard y juego de basket.
