I’ve never had a better experience than what I had at Woods @ Sasan. Lovely hospitality, safe and secure surroundings, excellent food, wonderful therapies, massages, and other options that will help you unwind — yoga, tree hugging, live music by locals, bonnet breakfasts with a view — other than the Gir forest, Somnath is 45 minutes away. Do not miss this place with spacious rooms and comfortable surroundings.

Everything was amazing. Ms. Sunita gave us an incredible massage. The food was freshly made absolutely delicious!. The staff was friendly and helpful. The property was very clean and well maintained. Amazing experience. Will definitely visit again.

This is a gem in midst of the Gir forests. From farm-to-table food to exposure to local culture, WOODS gets all of it right! And each aspect of our stay was just excellent! The spread-out cottages with floor-ceiling glasses situated in enclosures of bamboo and mango trees is a unique approach to privacy. The food--especially the Gujarati Thali--of thirty items all organic in bronze utensils was quite the experience--that place is called Swadesh, btw! My wife also learnt pottery and weaving with Nathabhai--who is also a philosopher with local stories. The rest of the staff, Ms. Shweta, Ms. Rajeshree, Aakash, Amit, Sohil, Ashish, the Gypsy driver Vijay were high on hospitality criterion!

We stayed at The Woods in October 2025 as a family of 4, plus 2 grandparents. This hotel is undeniably beautiful and has all the makings of a true 5-star experience. The grounds, the architecture and the facilities are impressive, and it’s considered one of the best hotels in Gir. However, a few consistent shortcomings held it back for us as a family. Pros Stunning grounds and a peaceful setting Warm, friendly staff Spacious, beautifully designed rooms (we stayed in a Pavilion Room) Very clean and comfortable – even with two trundle beds for our children (ages 9 and 12), we had plenty of space Lovely pool area Excellent food and drinks – both Indian and Western options, and genuinely delicious. Cons: Cleanliness of shared outdoor areas needs serious attention - Litter around the grounds and pool remained untouched throughout our stay, even after we raised it twice with staff. Poolside toilets also didn’t meet 5-star standards. This was the biggest disappointment and the main reason for my 3-star rating. Slow service - Be prepared to wait up to 1.5 hours for room service or even simple requests like towels. Billing errors were frequent - We had to correct our meal and drinks bills several times. Limited availability on menus - Quite a few food and drink items weren’t in stock. No umbrellas by the pool loungers - This made it uncomfortably hot during the day, especially with children. Slow buggy service - be prepared for a 45 minute delay for a buggy to take you around the resort. Good to know (not necessarily negatives, but worth noting before booking): The wine shop only sells spirits. The room layout includes an outdoor shower and an indoor bathtub but no enclosed indoor shower. If it rains, you will quite literally shower in the rain. Special Thanks: A special shout-out to Rajeshree at Terracotta. She was consistently warm, attentive, and thoughtful. She remembered our preferences (bottled water, no ice) and offered the kind of genuine 5-star service we had hoped to experience throughout the hotel. Overall: This is a gorgeous property with wonderful staff and great food, but standards around cleanliness, service speed and general resort cohesiveness need improvement to justify its 5-star reputation and rates. If those areas are addressed, it could easily be exceptional. If my friends and family asked for recommendations unfortunately I would not recommend this hotel in its current state of service.

The property is good, only certain staff isn’t trained while the majority wasn’t that well trained and the service needs to be better. Amit, our attended was amazing and made our experience much better But overall the service really needs to be better the food was also very okay
