Not happy with how we have been treated at check in. We were checked in and the gentleman was fine, said our room was ready. We went up to our room and the door was opened with housekeeping inside so we went back down to reception room have a drink when the guy on the desk asked what is wrong we said the room isn’t ready. He said it is. Then proceeded to call someone who I presume is over house keeping. He then shouted across the lobby to tell me that my room was ready…. Shouted. Did not have the courtesy to approach me about the problem they had. We went to the room which the door was now closed and then when we proceeded toward the room a member of staff said excuse me walked ahead of us and into our room before us and put a water into our room. So it wasn’t ready. We were happy to sit in reception and sit with a drink but we were not given the opportunity and made feel like we did something wrong. Second time staying with Novotel group and certainly last time.

The room is very large, the balcony room is set, and the only one is on the road. Room number 141, everyone avoids lightning. Because the car sounds at night. I also encountered construction in the morning and couldn't sleep well. Reaction with Trip was also solved. There is always a fox smell when the room opens, and the window needs to be opened for ventilation. It takes3-5 minutes to walk from the old street in the main district. The hotel environment is great.

This was our 4th hotel on our 16 days trip thru Holland/Belgium in August 2024. Location: excellent - a few min easy walk to the Gravensteen Castle, St. Michael's Bridge, St Bavo's Cathedral, Patershol, and other wonderful attractions. We stayed in Luxury double room with view - pretty big room, which had a big terrace (balcony) overlooking the canal, floor to ceiling windows, great working air-conditioner (it was very warm when we were there in August). The only problem we had with the room is that there was absolutely no electrical outlets on the nightstands. For us, it was a big issue. Both my husband and I have a few gadgets (including, of course, cell phones) that we are accustomed to charging overnight right next to us, on the nightstands, which we could not do here. Breakfast was OK for us, not bad, but definitely not the best variety and quality on our trip. Al in all, good stay and would recommend for the very convenient location and a nice view from the room.

I stayed for a night as part of a business trip, primarily being attracted to the hot l because of the indoor swimming pool. The hotel was lovely, in a really nice area and had a really welcoming, relaxed feel. Check in was good and the receptionist really helpful, there was a small bar and we sat in the terrace with our drinks which was really pleasant. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was great we made Bacon sandwiches which were really nice. I also used the pool for an early morning swim. The pool is small, but you can reserve it for your private use which is great. There is also a sauna. Overall this is a fantastic, privately owned, very reasonably priced boutique hotel with a lovely feel. I would recommend to anyone visiting Ghent and would love to stay again.
