Lightner Farmhouse B&B

We are so happy with our choice to book the Lightner Farmhouse! Steve was a fantastic host! Sadly Teresa was out of town but we hope to meet her on a return trip. We stayed in the Captain Elias R. Monfort bedroom and enjoyed looking him up and finding his unit's monument on the battlefield. Steve lined up a private overview tour for us through Battlefield Guide Darryl Roberts (who was so kind and knowledgeable!). When my wife was experiencing some battlefield fatigue, Steve recommended we check out Civil War Tails (a cat diorama centered around the war) and it was one of our favorite experiences of the trip. Also, we were inspired by Steve's tin type family photos and booked our own sessions at the Victorian Photography studio! So fun! Our only regret is we could not stay longer, we plan to return to Gettysburg and will of course stay at Lightner Farmhouse B&B!

The house is historic and beautiful with tastefully decorated rooms. The location is a short driving distance from downtown and the battlefield. The delicious breakfast is served from 8 to 9 am, getting you of to a great start. The real difference is the hosts-- Steve and Teresa--who really care about the guest experience. They gave us very helpful information about museums, activities as well as places to eat. We really enjoyed the guest speaker for a fascinating discussion on battlefield statues. We are looking forward to returning to Lightner Farmhouse.

Innkeepers Teresa and Steve provide warm and satisfying accommodations at their picturesque Civil War retreat that during the July 1863 battle was used as a hospital by the Union 1st Corps. A pre-breakfast lecture on the Battlefield’s monuments is offered before sitting down to a sumptuous breakfast. The Inn is conveniently located, and it is appointed with distinctive furnishings.

What a gem of a B&B, full of charm and coziness! Steve and Teresa are wonderful hosts, very welcoming and knowledgeable about the history of the property and Gettysburg. Upon arrival, Steve offered a very interesting historical background of the property and its role during the battle. Teresa’s breakfasts are delicious! I needed a quiet and relaxing getaway and the location was perfect. Far enough away for peace and quiet, yet close to the town center, the sites, and restaurants. I can’t say enough about this beautiful B&B, highly recommend.

This lovely little gem is perfectly situated about 6 miles from the heart of Gettysburg, away from the crowds. We stayed in the Chase room and it was roomy and comfortable. The photos of Private Chase and the history books in the room were a nice added touch. Breakfasts were absolutely delicious. We appreciated Steve's information on the history of the B&B, as well as his recommendations for tours. We highly recommend the Lightner Farmhouse B&B. There is a beautiful outdoor patio that we weren't able to use due to the weather. We'll be back!

Very nice bed and breakfast, out in the country so you're away from all the hustle and bustle. Breakfast was very good, room was okay, my only recommendation to Steve would be to either clean or replace the shower door in the room we had. The shower pressure was very good it's just that the outside of the door had a lot of black mold on it.
